Posted: 4/18/07 at 1:52pmI'm finding anti-NRA firebrand Rosie's measured, subdued response to the VT tragedy very compelling and riveting. Fascinating to watch Babs try to light a fire under her. Rather than indifferent, Rosie's pragramatic, choosing her battles. I went to the mother's march on DC, remember the sweeping sense of outrage, and now understand Rosie's justifiable desire to focus on what she can do -- with gun control, it's the serenity prayer to the max. The things you cannot change are legion.

Posted: 4/18/07 at 2:10pmEspecially with the recent firing of Imus, Rosie has said herself that she will stop talking about her views on the current war and the president on the air. It sounds like this is the first real "discussion" where she is exercising that. Interesting...

Posted: 4/18/07 at 3:48pmI loved Aisha Tyler. She should be the new co-host. She's smart, funny, gorgeous, and holds her own with the other women.

Posted: 4/18/07 at 3:53pmI like Sherry Sheperd or Jacque Reid a lot more though to fill the co-host spot when Elisabeth gets fired from the show (wishfull thinking)

Posted: 4/18/07 at 3:56pmI for one am thrilled that Rosie has stopped being so outspoken on the air. It creates an unnecessary amount of tension and un-comfortableness for her co-workers and for the viewers. I much prefer the new Rosie.

I don't think they'd fire Elisabeth. She'll either stay or leave on her own accord when her contract is up. She'll probably wind up doing a Fox show.
I have a feeling Bitsy is preggers. I keep thinking I see a bump.

As long as the ratings are there, Rosie will stay. The minute they dip she is gone.
She might shop around her own show again and wonder if advertisers would welcome her or shy away.
It is silly and scary that Fox would be so overtly against her. When was the last time a news network was against someone? Did Walter Cronkite in the glory days of TV news ever spit on the floor at the mention of Nixon? William Buckley?

Posted: 4/18/07 at 4:10pmI don't think anyone is going to get fired, and actually I shouldn't wish for anyone to get fired, she just frustrates me. But no one is getting fired on The View.

Posted: 4/18/07 at 6:03pmI don't think she'll temper her opinions. She is just choosing not to revisit this battle. The show was great without Elisabeth. Get rid of that woman! Can't stand her. Surely, they can find an informed conservative who knows how to interview and knows when to be quiet so others can have their say. It was such a breath of fresh air. It was also funny watching Barbara try to rile up Rosie.

and lose the daily potential for become water cooler fodder? yeah, i bet they're praying that elizabeth stays away and rosie stays quiet because everyone knows that in the television business (note that word) it's much better when people are not talking about you than when they are.

Posted: 4/18/07 at 6:09pmI agreed with Rosie's sentiment that we've all become so desensitized following Columbine, 9-11, and the current war. Everything nowadays seems much less shocking.

I couldn't have said it better.
Also I loved guest co-host Whoopi Goldberg, and Rose Mc Gowan was a surprise last week! She had a lot of chemistry with Rosie.

Posted: 4/18/07 at 9:08pmRosie is hardly holding her tongue. Rather, she's had a change of focus after so much work for gun control went no where. Her reticence on one issue is about abandoning an approach to the issue, not her trying to say less on THE VIEW.

She was on the last gasp of FRIENDS, yes?
And wasn't she a host of a guilty pleasure trash show, THIRD WHEEL? Or that other one, the title of which eludes me. She's smart, sexy, beautiful -- and doesn't seem to have a niche yet.
Seriously, she'd be damned good on that panel.

Posted: 4/19/07 at 8:59amElizabeth is doing a good job for them - financially speaking. (Which is the only way the powers-that-be do speak). She's bringing people like all of you to the show to see what kind of crap she has to say. Rosie's doing the same with her rants. The only conservative I can think of who might bring in a greater audience would be our Papa. The potential blood bath would have viewers all over the world turning in!
A click for life.

I'm sure they could, but there would probably be no balance to the show. I love Rosie, but at least Elizabeth speaks up and challenges Rosie. I think an informed conservative is a good idea, but Elizabeth allows more people to speak than Rosie ever does, so I'm not sure how a quieter conservative will be an improvement. It will just be more boring.
