This one is better than he 57 states in the US gaffe in 2008.

In 2007, he claimed in a Selma Ala speech (to court black voters -why?) claimed JFK sponsored airlift in Africa that brought his family to the US. He than compounded it by saying Selma's 1965 Bloody Sunday demonstration brought his parents together & led to his birth (I always thought he was born in a stable with the 3 wise men there - Biden,Reid & Pelosi in male drag)

Problem is JFK did not take office until 2 years after Obamas father was born & Obama was born 4 years before Bloody Sunday

Imagine if Romney made a boo like this.

Facts! Like Paul Ryan blaming Obama for the closure of a GM plant in Wisconsin that happened before Obama was president? And now Ryan's on the ticket with the guy who said let Detroit die?

Those kind of gaffes carry much more weight than family legends in the political arena. That's the tricky thing about human memory and the stories that are passed down through the generations. They change and are enhanced with every telling.

Look - Obama did this to himself when he hijacked those planes and blew up the World Trade Center. He can't go back now and ask us to forget about things like that or him kidnapping the Lindbergh baby. We don't forgive or forget that easily, Mr. "President".

I find this focus on "gaffes" so ridiculous. Even if your post made sense, which quite frankly after three reads I still don't get what you're saying, I don't really care about misstatements and gaffes. Similarly, if Mitt, Ryan or any of them make some stupid ad lib comment, I don't care at all. Instead, let's focus on their actual issues and policy, a place Mitt seems increasingly afraid to go.

Barack Obama, Sr., was born in 1934.

JFK took office in January 1960.
