and also, being safe is subjective. there are those who do certain things but won't do others. I think any type of physical (skin to skin) contact is a risk.

No--that's "raw" or "uninhibited."

Kringas - I changed the title. I swear I thought it referenced younger men, but you're right, it doesn't.
Sorry - it was late

See, we ARE becoming geezers, DG!
PJ, I feel as if I have been on those rubber sheets. Something is giving me a sense of deja vu in that pic.

Maybe it's the ink.
As Larry Hart, who probably was a Nasty Pig himself, once said:
Some things that happen for the first time
Seem to be happening again.
And so it seems that we have met before
And laughed before
And loved before
But who knows where or when?

That’s why we embrace a policy of containment. What does that mean? It’s simple. If poz boys stick to poz boys and neg boys stick to neg boys AIDS will be over. It’s just that simple.

DG, I remember in the early 80's when AIDS started taking lives here in NY. The really raunchy sex clubs hadn't been closed yet, but they were still being frequented by lots of gays. Of course, we all talked about this in depth, especially after one of our group died.
What shocked me was the comment that a few of my friends made, and that was that they'd rather enjoy those clubs and take the risk. However, I do understand the point that Namo is making here, so it's a tough call.

That is terrifying. Apparently he has no concerns of reinfection.

As though it were that easy. Because no one ever lies about their HIV status.
when I have sex with a stranger, my policy is "don't ask, don't tell." Safe sex always and you have nothing to worry about.

I always ask. And freely volunteer information. And I always use a condom with the booty sex. I haven't been usuing condoms for oral, but I'm at a point now where I'm thinking that's going to be the case.

when i lived in sf, 95-97, the group of people i knew seemed to think of hiv as a status thing, something to be ACHIEVED.
their saying was, "theres no such thing as negative; only pre-positive"
that attitude had a lot to do with my giving up on sf & moving to nyc.
condoms for oral are a must. and not wearing one is a deal breaker for me. you can't rely on someone admitting they have herpes or any other STD. stds carry the stigma of disease and our society is all about finding someone who is dd free.

It's not that simple. Even safe sex can lead to infection. Condoms break.
There are also a several STDS you can contract even if the condom you are using is effective.
I hope everyone sees the importance of a thread like this.
