^^^ Truer words have never been spoken. It's this whole "Vote for Obama or you're a dumbass!" attitude that turns me away from voting Democrat, and i'm pretty darn moderate. I am honestly not sure who I am voting for yet, becauser frankly both choices SUCK.

But I will say Reagan was the best President we ever had. Period.

EverythingIsRENT,

How old were you when Ronald Reagan was president? Were you even born yet when he was elected? How can ANYONE say that ANY PRESIDENT "was the best president we ever had. Period." if you weren't old enough to actually experience it?

Or perhaps you are a United States History scholar and have conducted an exhaustive study of every US president using an instrument for assessing criteria and measuring outcomes that you yourself developed. If the latter is true, I would love to read your white paper and welcome your opinion.

Otherwise, please don't tell those of us on the board who voted and lived through that very harrowing and frightening time what it was like to live the good life during the Reagan Administration.

Oh, and NOT voting a certain way because of a perceived and nonspecific "attitude" is hardly a wise way to choose the next commander-in-chief. (Or is this a joke and I'm just not in on it?)

I am voting for Obama because I agree with his stances on foreign relations, economic issues, and because he actually thinks education should be a priority. I am also voting against McCain because he thinks in the short term and not in long term (biggest example is Sarah Palin).

But I am also voting for Obama because he inspires me and reminds me how great this country, and the people in it, can be.

"But I will say Reagan was the best President we ever had. Period."

I simply can't process that statement. On any level. In any way.

I would be curious to know why EverythingIsRENT feels that way. I find it interesting.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

You know, considering that "everyone is entitled to their opinion" is what got us into this mess in the first place, I'm starting to doubt that as a truism...some people just don't DESERVE it any more.

The twisted thing about Everythingisrent's point of view is that for gay men who lived through the Reagan era of the AIDS epidemic "ACT UP! Fight AIDS!" was an actual chant we shouted AT THE WHITE HOUSE.

It wasn't just a cool section of La Vie Boheme.

I have very strong opinions about Ronald Reagan, but I don't need to foist them on everyone here. I suppose I reacted a tad strongly to EverythingIsRENT, but I find it a little presumptuous when someone born in 1985 makes a statement so definitive, with words like "BEST...EVER...PERIOD."

Unless, as I said, she's kidding because he was president when she was born or something like that.

I'll be completely honest. I would have voted Democratic either way. I'm a liberal, but not liberal enough to vote my morals and go with an independent I agree with more. That is why I'm voting for Obama.

I'm happy to vote for Obama because I often agree with him, I find him compelling, and I have at least a modicum of faith in him.

But I will say Reagan was the best President we ever had. Period.

You're the same age as I am, so I'm pretty damn sure that if I don't remember the Reagan years than you don't. So you don't have personal experience or historical perspective to back that up, sorry.

If you are truly a moderate, listen to the candidates and block out the supporters and detractors. There's a giant faction of Obama supporters that annoy the hell out of me too. That has no bearing on the decision you need to make, and if it honestly does? You're going to make the wrong decision. Not because you'd be choosing McCain, not because you'd be choosing not to vote, but because if that is what is important to you then you don't have the necessary maturity to make any major decision in life.

i was born in 81 and i don't even remember the Reagan years. My earliest memory of any political race was Bush Senior. I remember that vaguely.

Yeah, born 77 - all I remember politically from then was my dad calling Reagan a clown and me not being able to mesh the image I saw on the tv with what I knew a clown should look like. I honestly didn't think I was looking at Reagan when he was on the tv because of that - I kept waiting for the guy with the big hair and red nose (no, not Ted Kennedy)...

Every time someone complains about being called a dumb**** and then claims that Ronald Reagan was a better president than George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams (you know, the founders and shapers of our country), than Abraham Lincoln (you know, he freed the slaves), than Woodrow Wilson, than the Roosevelts, well, every time that happens, I just wanna call you a dumb**** again.

Nondumb**** republicans/conservatives = people who are able to intelligently argue their point (and there are points to be made) without resorting to the usual conservative propaganda. Sadly, the utter devolution of the Republican party and way of thinking never allows for that.

At any rate, Reagan's likeness isn't getting carved into a mountain any time soon.

RENT123, I laugh at you actually believing that Obama has anything to do with terrorists. That is some of the worst propaganda I have ever read.

I am proud to say that I am voting for Obama for my first time being able to vote for president because not only do I agree with him on all he stands for. I feel that he will get the US out of the hole that has been going on in the past 8 years. I also think that Palin is a scary Mother****er as is Mccain.

I am honestly not sure who I am voting for yet, becauser frankly both choices SUCK.

THERE ARE MORE THAN TWO CHOICES! If you want to say "screw this awful two-party system" with your vote, then vote third-party. I would encourage to check out Bob Barr's positions (he's the Libertarian presidential candidate) and see if they're in line with what you believe.

Also check out the Wikipedia page, which offers a good list of this year's third-party candidates.
