I do love the fantasy of Obama quoting a Holly Hunter movie to a crying gay man.

I tried to stay mostly quiet on this, but it seems it's all exploded, and now I've just gotta say it.
Your wedding is not an important political event. It is no more important than the last gay couple to marry, or the couple right after you. If you were the FIRST gay wedding in America, that would be important.
Your wedding is important to you and your loved ones. But apparently not important enough for you to find the money for. You're grown men. You've done a lot of good for non-profit organizations. I find it hard to believe you can't make your wedding happen without begging. Why not have a MODEST wedding? Why not spend wisely? Why not make do with what you have, and be proud of that? Why masquerade?
I'm gay. And I have a tough situation with my family life because of it. But I don't deserve a special wedding because of that.
This entire thing is nauseating. Truly.

Also, shaking Obama's hand at a private function and "meeting" him for all of 5 seconds does not make him your friend. Let's stop with that, because you sound like a child.
It makes me sad that this is a man who worked in not-for-profit theatre for so long. He should know better.

Also, Jamie, who never thought he'd see this day come because he had such a tough childhood, should really not be liking a comment such as "Fat Virgins". Rude, crass, and thought-less. Just goes to show ya...

Hell, I met Natascia Diaz for ten minutes at the stage door. She even HUGGED me and I don't consider her a "friend", just a very talented actress/singer who deserves to have a bigger career and better "friends" than the Scamming Kiltsman. Add me to the Diaz Fan Club!
PEACE.

This thread is amazing.

Right, Phyllis? We're calling him out on a very tacky, public campaign to raise money. He's making fun of us based on weight, etc? Classy.

And I agree with you and PRS about how classless it was to 'like' such comments.

The parents basement comment was equally offensive as it was just a lazy, hackish joke. Along with the 'fat virgins' line. Should a man his age have this child-like defense mechanism against criticism?
If he ever read that far into the thread, how can he be so dismissive of it when Jersey Girl and Robbie both gave such personal, lovely stories? Or is he upset that those posts also critiqued the hell out of his tacky wedding plans?

Thought of this thread a little earlier this week. A sixteen year old girl on Tumblr posted that she was wondering if her followers could help fund a move to Australia so she could live with her girlfriend. When people called her on it she wrote this long post saying how we didn't understand that she was really messed up and had illnesses and her family had to get their clothes donated from a local church. Just whiney. After she called someone a "****tard" for suggesting she get a job, I sent her a message saying something like, 'Once you ask people for money they worked hard to earn you open yourself to criticism like this.' And then she called me a c*nt.
I know you.
I know you.

Count me in the Natascia Diaz camp; love her! Enjoyed her performance in Carnival at The Kennedy Center and in West Side Story at Wolf Trap.

If all the people bitching on this thread were the same people he bitched with anonymously "ten years ago" I'm confused... I didn't even know this forum was here back then--or that he ever was a member.
Likewise, his initial request for money would bother me far less if he didn't make it an issue of some dream of a poor picked on ten year old kid, AND a political statement. Just say you want help for your wedding--yeah you'd prob get even less donations, but it wouldn't rub people the wrong way as much.
As for all the fat virgins in their mother's basement (because that defines nobody I can think of on this forum, except maybe that teen who posts as Quiche's Mom or whatever :P )--maybe he and his BF should live in their mom's basements for a while and save up money for a fabulous wedding! It's not the worst idea...
It does always amaze me when people handle something like this with such a lack of grace (I guess he is still his 10 year old self), whining about somehow being bullied--and on a board he hasn't thought to visit for three years, but just suddenly, randomly, popped in and saw this thread (right...).

Good point about this not being around "10 years" ago.
He must have a thing for the number 10.
10 years ago. 10 years old. $10,000 donations.

How do you screen cap an entire page? I'd gladly do it.
The whole thing is so tacky. And when you think about who Jamie is (or was), it makes it all a little nauseating...

I guess what really p*sses me off more than anything isn't the fact that he ran a non-profit and did a lot of really great work and now deserves a reward (Seriously, man? Get in line!) but that he thinks he's entitled to this because he's gay and has had to suffer.
If he learns anything from this, he'll take the money raised and donate it to The Trevor Project, or Ali Forney, or GLSEN or something like that. But he won't. He needs it to buy cake.
It's a good thing he isn't inviting all of us "fat virgins", cause we'd eat that cake right up.

^ If you hit the print screen key on your keyboard and paste it into a program like paint or something. That's how you can get screen caps of this.
This thread has gotten ridiculous. And not by the "fat virgins."

Awesome. We'll just have to sit in our parents' basements making sure this thread lives on. Thank goodness for fat virgins.
P.S. I happened to be in my office's cubicle when updating earlier today. Does that make me a working fat virgin?
