Apparently, on Facebook, he posted that he spent 20 minutes reading this site (after not having been here for 3 years), and we are little people who never left our parent's basements.
Hey, Jamie - I left my parent's basement a long time-ago. I stand on my own two feet, purchase only what I can afford and don't ask for handouts. And have for my entire adult life. If I couldn't afford something, I saved for it or went without.
I guess I'm happy for you that you have friends who are able to fund your 10-year old dreams. My friends and I are funding causes that actually make a difference in the world. From our very grown-up homes, and checkbooks.
ps - why is it that people always claim they haven't 'visited this site' in sooooo many years? Is there some shame in being associated with a message board that has, actually, produced concerts to benefit BC/EFA? (A REAL charity?) Or has created a community of people who have become REAL friends, supported eachother through good times and bad - including weddings, births, illness, and, tragically death? I'm PROUD to be a member of this BWW community.
Keep lurking, wedding-boy. Keep lurking. And while you're at it, take a few minutes to look at the "60 Moments" thread. Give it some thought, will you.
Entry on FB:
"Wow. Spent 20 minutes visiting a Broadway message board for the first time in 3 years or so. It's nice to know some people never grow beyond their parent's basements or the open mic at Don't Tell Mama's."
Speaking of parent's basements - how's the begging going?
We all need to grow up and work for what we want.

And, you know, Jamie, people who are stuck on living through their 10 year-old selves can often get the hell over that, move on, grow and mature through THERAPY. Consider it, please. Just don't ask other to pay for it.
So, this site, which he used to use to promote the hell out of his "McBenefits" is populated with losers who have never left their parents' basements yet he and his beloved, are asking the general public to fund their wedding? Who is it that never seemed to grow up, move on and pay their own way?
A number of posts following the one Moony posted seem to have been deleted. (The ones that were posted while the thread appeared to be locked).
I went back and edited one line of one of my posts, lest this thread be banned. In all honestly, it's been a thoughtful and productive discussion.
My final comment is shame on him for disparaging participation in a program like Open Mic night at Don't Tell Mama's. I see that as a wonderful way for people to entertain, be creative and... embrace their 10-year-old dreams.
(ps - if you reply to this, you can still see the messages that now seem to live in neverland).
Addy, regarding your posts - very well said! I'd make one change though and to use the word "enable" the dreams of their 10 year old selves.
I've never seen a thread do this reply-only stuff before. Granted, it's in my limited experience but...
Interesting how you said "Neverland" given the topic about eternal 10 year olds. :)
Well hey, if people want to fund a stranger's wedding, let 'em. If you can make that all work, then kudos. I guess.
I'm not sure if my post was actually deleted or just a glitch. All I said was basically it appears that the 10 year old has matured a bit because now at least he is being honest about where the money he is raising will go.
Oh, and "Marriage Equality" is not the same thing as "Wedding Equality".
The story behind the Obama post is that he was invited to one of the White House holiday parties with a group of activists.

I love NYadgal!
I find it interesting how someone who doesn't look at a site in years can possibly know what is being discussed.

It always seems to go that way, doesn't it?
Let's see, if each of Jamie's FB friends gave $10 each he would net $12,050. That's more than enough to cover the wedding, and leave a little extra for unplanned incidentals.
Which raises the questions if one donates does one receive an itemized budget showing how the $10,000 will be spent? Can one restrict one's donation so that it is used for a specific budgeted item?
Wow.

I wanna know which of you gave him your screen name.
That just makes me want to give Natascia Diaz a hug!

I love Natascia Diaz, LOVE. HER. She blew me away in tick... tick... BOOM!
But really, "violent"?
PRS, it was SueleenGay. I would put benefit money on it. Bitch is ALWAYS talking about herself in the third person .
Oh dear, I love Natascia Diaz! LOVE. HER. (also!)
Who in the world would be mean to her? We need to start a ND love thread.
But, JM, he's delusional.
And that open mic reference pisses me off.
Give me someone following their dreams on an open mic any day. Not someone begging for bucks. Who manages to name drop, no less.
(Now, who gave JM his/her screen name? Or is he just pretend-name-dropping on that, too?)

Sueleen, I thought maybe it was me! I'm glad to know it was Sue!
I think it was Izzy.
It's whoever talked about herself in the third person, but I'm not seeing that.

I do love the fantasy of Obama quoting a Holly Hunter movie to a crying gay man.

Quote of the thread right here.
I hope someone is saving this gem.
Please!
...it could be a matter of time before JM's BFF Obama makes it go *poof*
