Why are there soooooo many whores on Broadway?

Are you all as sick of all the whores in Broadway shows as I am?

I’m not talking about little sluts like Ado Annie; I am talking about WHORES like Laurie who will give it up to the highest bidder at the “BOX” social.

I’m not talking about easy girls, such as Rizzo or Penny Pingleton, I am talking about “ten cents a dance” HOOKERS!

SWEET CHARITY, CABARET, A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM, BILOXIE BLUES, THE LIFE, PAINT YOUR WAGON, GIGI, and the Mother of all WHORE shows…THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS, for crying out loud.

I am sure there are thousands of others that escape me at the moment but I can only let my mind wander to the un-healthy for so long before it becomes mush.

I know there are others who agree with me that Broadway should be cleaned up of WHORES! So let’s here it.

Do you think there are waaayyyy toooooo many WHORES on Broadway?

I don't understand it SueleenGay, I'm a celebate novice who loves Broadway and every time I tell someone about a show I saw or something like that, I get the 'joke', "you like Broadway? Are you a whore??? Ha ha ha." Just watch TV and you'll see jokes all the time about broadway and whores. I'm really sick of the connection.

I mean, why is Broadway being 'whored up'? Isn't it enough to get noticed because of your TALENT anymore? It just seems that now, the prostitute's life style is being glamorized and becoming chic.

But please, please, please don't bash me for saying this.

To answer, your initial question, Sueleen. I think whores flock to the theatre community because it is such an open community where we can express ourselves freely. Plus, the severe lack of jobs forces us to turn to street walking as a result of a low income. These experiences often cause writers to pen their experiences as whores. Hope that helped.

I like to think of myself as very open minded and extremely liberal. I have many whore friends and find them to be more fun than my normal friends. I am not against extending rights to whores the same as everyone else has. I just don't see why they can't be discreet about it. One can be a whore and still remain discreet. Please don't throw out the cloeseted whore defense. I am not saying one must be a closeted whore. I am just saying one can be comfortable with one's self and be proud of one's self without being showy. Why must whores alwasy use public forums to further their own agenda? Can't they keep their whoreishness in the privacy of their bedrooms without flaunting it at the Tony awards, onstage or out in the streets? Do we really need to see more shows like The Life?
One can be a proud whore with flauting the fact that one is. That Tony kiss between Idina and Taye was uncalled for. It was taking advantage of a photo op to flaunt one's lifestyle.

I know I will be bashed for this. I know I will attract the wrath of those who will accuse me of being a self loathing closeted whore but, this is just my opinion on the subject.

Yours for a less whorish Broadway.

I'm sure the whores are just attracted to Broadway because it allows them a venue to express their inner whoriness. This is because whores aren't commonly accepted in other professions, such as teaching and insurance sales.
