OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!
I just read all of your comments and started to tear up. You have no idea.
I unfortunately was at DAMN YANKEES tonight and didn't realize that I wouldn't be able to make it back on time to see the show
As I was leaving the stage door, my brother and my sister txted me one after the other just saying "felicitationes" ("congratulations" in Spanish) so I called my brother and he was crying, and screaming. I spoke to my parents (my dad is her godfather) and they were so excited, my mom could barely speak.
We went to the same school since we were five up until we were in 6th or 7th grade. Since she lived a block away from me, we'd always visit each other's places.
I moved here when I was 15 and she visited once and stayed with me and my family for a month while doing modeling gigs in Miami. She was the first of my childhood friends whom I told I was gay, her answer? "Yeah, I've known longer than you have" And that was that.
Her family has struggled SO much. They became unemployed a few years ago, and she basically has supported herself and her family for a while. It's such an achievement to see her triumph like this.
Thanks for all your support and nice thoughts, guys. I heard she gave a great answer and that's what made her win over Colombia. Can't wait to watch the actual pageant.
I will definitely show this thread to her. You guys rock.
