I got to see the final moment on youtube, so amazing!
They also have the Q & A clip on there. I didn't actually watch the whole thing, just Colombia and Venezuela. Obviously I'm BEYOND biased, but I thought Colombia's answer was incredibly phony, "every single day of my life has been happy." I feel there was a better way to answer that question, it seemed like a cop-out to me. Then again the pressure at the time must be insane. I didn't really get Dayana's answer to be honest, I saw it sort of rushed before running to the airport so I'll have to see it again.

PS: DAMN YANKEES was kinda blah, btw.

Another cute story. When she stayed with me for a month in Miami, we were both 15. My family had just moved here so we barely had enough money to buy the necessary stuff. Since she was working doing her modeling stuff, she was making money, so she would go to the store and buy a 12-pack of ice cream sandwich for her and me. On the weekends, at around midnight, we'd lay in her bed with the 12-pack, six each, and talk through 5am or so without my parents knowing and go through that whole box. It was during those talks that I started talking to her about my gay friend (me), though I didn't come out to her two years after that, I knew she had it all figured out.

Lol, that was when we were 15, not sure if she has kept those habits, but back then as she was modeling, she would eat A LOT. My mom used to joke saying that it'd be much cheaper to dress her rather than feed her.
I am at the Gainesville airport (Gainesville is where I live), but my ride won't get here till 2-30ish. I'll definitely dig up those pics when I get home though :)

And I agree - Columbia's answer I hated. And I wasn't sure I understood Dayana's either, but it was delivered adorably. I think maybe it was a language thing that I didn't get what she meant.

I came across a really interesting (albeit somewhat catty) review of the 1994 pageant won by Miss India which remains my personal favorite. Now that was a competitive contest. The semifinalists that year are some of the most beautiful women in the history of humankind, especially Miss Venezuela Minorka Mercado extreme nose job and all. Minorka was an Amazonian goddess alongside the others.

The host and commentators were awful though.

IMO the pageant went down hill quickly from there thanks in large part to Donald Trump.

I used to love the local children escorting the contestants- they were so cute and excited. You're tight too- those contestants were beautiful! Anyway, look how high the scores were! I hate Donald Trump. I heard he dropped the Miss Teen USA due to ratings. I wonder what they are going to do this year?

I didn't realize Miss Teen USA has been dropped. I remember the very first one airing when I was in college. There was a year when two of the finalists were wearing the exact same gown and were standing right next to each other. They switched the positions of the girls during commercial break. There was also another year when one of the contestants took a tumble down the stairs during the evening gown competition as she could negotiate the staircase because her gown was too form fitting. Good times!!

Not sure when the Miss Teen USA pageant is being dropped, as the 2008 version is being held on August 16.

I took it to be maybe something like the Venezualen equivalent of "Slow and steady wins the race."

i can't believe USA fell. poor girl.

i though venezuela was really ugly. :/ mexico should have gotten it.
