Just to clarify: I meant the series was one of my faves, not the finale.
Now we are in total agreement.
I wasn't a huge fan of the last episode either, though I still got a little misty at the end simply becuase of how much I enjoyed the show.
As far as good final episodes, I love the last episode of Golden Girls. I liked the way Everybody Loves Raymond ended. It was just another episode.
It wasn't as bad as the finale of Seinfeld.
The Sound of Music Sing Along was my favorite episode as well followed closely by the Patti Lupone episode.
From the "Von Trapped" episode.
Jack: So. Tell me something, peanut brittle. If we were boyfriends, would I be able to get free nachos?
Guy Behind Counter: Yes. Would you like some free nachos?
Jack: Oh, no I couldn't! I'm watching your figure.
------
Jack: Okay, let's make a run for it.
Karen: Honey, we can't. My name was on that flask.
JACK: You put your name on the flask?
Karen: Yeah. It says "Karen Walker, Bikini Inspector."

Best finale ever: Six Feet Under. It still gets to me.
Best sitcom finale: either Newhart or Mary Tyler Moore.

newgirl, I wasn't a particular fan of "Six Feet Under," and I STILL cried at the finale.
As for the sitcom finales, how about we go with "Mary Tyler Moore" AND "Newhart"?
Mary Tyler Moore's finale was the best ... so emotional ...
When they all huddle and leave the studio in a group hug, then Mary looks back in one last time and turns off the lights.
Its a long way to Tippararee.

I didn't really like the finale either, mostly due to what's already been said (too campy, shouldn't break them up, ect.) But I have to disagree with those that are hating on the Seinfeld finale. I thought it was almost as great as Newhart's.

Will and Grace lost me early on. I just found them all to be such unpleasant people. And it wasn't like Seinfeld where they were supposed to be unlikeable. I know we were supposed to adore all these characters and I just couldn't get on board.
Sorry, gay people. I have failed you again.
Phyllis, if we all stopped tuning in because the main players were unpleasant, the BWW message boards would die a quick and painful death.
The fact that the characters on Will & Grace were unpleasant to begin with was what made the show funny.
The only character I really liked, from time to time was Rosario, and Karen most of the time.
Will and Grace were like immature teenagers who couldn't share anything but their embarrassing flaws, and Jack was just an embarrassment all-together.

Me no think that was its widespread appeal.

I always thought the characters were more absurdly unrealistic than unpleasant. But I did love them anyway.
^ Same here. I vaguely remember watching the finale some time ago and not getting too upset by it. Not that I hated the show by any means, the finale was just weak and the series itself did have flaws. But I'll gladly watch it if a re-run happens to be on Lifetime or CW. Although, as much as I liked/like watching it, the show was kind of like M*A*S*H in the sense where it should have ended earlier than run longer and become less appealing along the way.

I have to jump in the awful camp.
I found the final episode to be excruciatingly awful.
Painfully so.
What did you think of the series though, Priest?
And yes, I agree the finale is iffy. The more you see it though, the more you'll like it. It gets better with repeated viewings.
