Caught this again over the weekend - hadn't seen it in a long time and there are some classic scenes.
I definitely think this film could work as a musical. Not that I'm advocating its adaptation, but the plot and characters do lend themselves to song.
Oh please Craig NO!! Do not give them any more ideas for bad movie into musical ideas.
Working Girl is one of my all-time favorite films. I never get tired of it. However, I don't think I want to see it as a musical. I don't think the cast could be improved on and I'm not sure musicalizing the story would add much.
Heart and Souls, however, I think is just begging to be a musical.

I'm going to agree with Craig here...while I'm not necessarily advocating it, I do think the story and the characters lend themselves well to musical numbers.
If it were made into a musical, I just might see it...

Adore the movie. Not sure it would translate to the stage, but it's fun to think about the songs...
Bod for Sin
Coffee? Tea? Me?
Get Your Bony Ass Outta My Face
well for fun, I'll cast the musical
Sherie Renee Scott as Tess
Peter Gallagher as Jack
Norbert Leo Butz as the Baldwin part
Ana Gasteyer as Sigourney Weaver part
Mary Birdsong or Amy Spanger as the Joan Cusack part
Well if I were going to do it, I would insist on leaving the finale as "Let The Rivers Run"
What an amazing song to end a show on with the entire company singing
"Let the River Run" is already one of the greatest film songs ever. It propels the film throughout and pays off at the end.
Love this film, but without that song, not sure...is Carly into musicals?
Love that song, still hate that movie. (No idea why, just do. sorry)
Let the River Run is one of the greatest songs ever written for a film. I love that shot at the end where you see Joan Cusack jump up for joy while on the phone with Griffith. Gives me goose bumps every time. For me, Working Girl is sheer joy. I saw the film three times the week it opened.
Lets have the musical start on the ferry. Everyone is kind of milling around and then a bag lady (played by Melissa Errico or maybe Laura Benanti) sort of emerges from the shadows and sings (screams?) the classic song from the movie - LET THE RIVER RUN.

Other potential songs:
"You Want Another Answer, Ask Another Girl"
"I've Got Something in My Belly (But I Think It's Nervous Knots)"
"I Am Not Steak"
"Jack...Help Me Out Here"
"Hey, Cyn (Guess Where I Am)"
"It's Not Even Leather!"
Strangely, this was on last night.
"A Head For Business (And A Body For Sin)"
"two way street"
"I Am, After All, Me"
"Who Makes It Happen?"
"Serious Hair"
"dim sum, have some"
Working Girl-OBC, containing the Tony winning songs...
"You Can't Busy The Quarterback With Passing Out The Gatorade"
"Doesn't Make Me Madonna-Never Will." (Sometimes I dance around the living room in my underwear...)
"SNAKE!(Popping Doreen Di Mucci In Our Bed)"
I'd totally go see Working Girl if it was made into a musical.
Ha ha ha. Thanks and welcome back from Nicaragua Millie!
I love so many of the song title suggestions.
What about -
"Today's Jr. Prick, Tomorrow's Sr. Partner"
"I Just Love Those Little Dumplings"
"I'd Rethink The Hair"

"Hard Copy on This From the Home Computer (Do Not Go Through Tess)"
"Trask/Radio Trask/Radio Trask/Radio"
I loved this film. It deserves all the attention it got. Jessica Simpson and Luke Wilson are already done with the filming of "Blonde Ambition", that it has been said, it is some kind of remake of "Working Girl".

'Mary Birdsong or Amy Spanger as the Joan Cusack part'
Funny you should say that. In the last shot of the movie, when Griffith calls Cusack and Cusack does that arms up victory move and the camera pans back, Mary Birdsong is, in fact, one of the secretaries that turns to look at Cusack. Lower left corner of the screen, I believe.*
