I think the "cure" may not be permanent since "cured" Magneto moved that little chess piece at the end of the movie! They certainly left it open, didn't they? But you may be right - spinoffs are probably next - I'm pretty sure Hugh is filming "Wolverine" sometime next year for release in 2008. Plus to get a cast of that size back (and probably their salary demands) may not be feasible, so if there is an X-4 it may be with different mutants - although producer Lauren Shuler Donner was quoted once as saying she would never do an X-Men movie without Hugh as Wolverine.

I saw the movie three times, and I loved it. Not as good as the second one, but it was enjoyable. I thought that Jean got turned into a human. I don't remember her dying. Oh well, Famke was amazing in this movie. It was nice to see her play a pyscho again. Wow, that woman has legs for days.
"I'm the Juggernaut, bitch!" is becoming the latest fad in my school. Everyone in my school was saying it. A friend of mine said it and when I asked her what she thought of the movie, she said, "What movie?"
*sigh*
How could you see this movie three times since its release and not CLEARLY see that
****SPOILER****
Wolverine stabs her, she dies, and then there's a scene following showing the graves of Jean, Scott and Xavier?
Guess you need a 4th viewing.
Did those chess pieces actually move?
No one in the group I was with thought they moved. And not because Magneto's powers weren't back, but because leaving the "powers or no powers" question hanging is a great teaser for the next X-Men/Wolverine movie.
Opinions?

I thought the second one was far better. I know the actor had a scheduling issue, but Scott's death came way too soon. He was in like 15 minutes of the movie. The fact that Charles ISN'T dead undermines their grieving, and is pointless considering that they've already said if there is an X-Men 4, it's going to be a prequel.
Rogue was barely in the movie at all, Angel didn't need to be in the movie because he didn't do anything, and also, Colossus did nothing either. Did he even say more than one sentence? The movie should have been longer and not so rushed, and properly utilized each character, not just Wolverine and Storm.
I thought it was better than the first one but the second one is the best in the series. "I'm the Juggarnaut Bitch" comes from the comics. Juggarnaut says stuff like that all the time in the comics. And yes, the piece did move. Actually, it wiggled.

The chess piece definitely moved slightly. No one that I was with noticed it either.
As a random summer popcorn piece of fluff, it was enjoyable.
As an X-Men film or piece of art? CRAP.
I think a "prequel" to the XMEN would be awful, unless they did ProfX meets Eric scenerio. Awful because the original comic book XMEN headed by ProfX were JeanGrey, Cyclops, Beast, Iceman and Angel.
Now if they had started with those characters for the original movie that would have been true to form and a prequel would be cool.
In the movies, Iceman is just a kid not a member of the team and Angel is introduced in the 3rd movie.
If they did a prequel most everything would be fabricated by the screen writers.
Better to do a New Mutants movie than a prequel based on a screen writers attempt to make sense of the past.
I hope I made sense.

I think what people meant by a "prequel" was the Wolverine spinoff movie.

Yes, Wolverine will be next, and Hugh has stated it will be a prequel to Wolverine's story that we first saw on film. Which storyline they haven't said yet.
There are two films in the works one featuring Magneto and another featuring Wolverine. I suspect by spinning off these characters the producers and the studio's will be better able to control co$ts of characters salaries. As has been pointed out there is a huge cast here many of whom are getting big $$ or back end points which cuts severely into profitability. Pick one big lead plus some of the newer cast and costs go down. Well, @ least that's what I've heard from some below the liners who worked on the shows in Vancouver.
I think Idna would be a good Jean Grey.
I don't think Famke would object to returning. I know she likes the role. If only she can keep from being injured!
