Color me (not) shocked (at all). When was the last time an actor who was still in the prime of their years announced retirement and actually stuck to it? I think Greta Garbo and Doris Day, both mentioned earlier, might have been the last ones (OT: I love the allusion to Garbo in Death Becomes Her when Isabella Rossellini's characters tells Meryl "Or as one client put it 'I want to be alone.'")
