Color me (not) shocked (at all). When was the last time an actor who was still in the prime of their years announced retirement and actually stuck to it? I think Greta Garbo and Doris Day, both mentioned earlier, might have been the last ones (OT: I love the allusion to Garbo in Death Becomes Her when Isabella Rossellini's characters tells Meryl "Or as one client put it 'I want to be alone.'")

She said in the article she was interested in doing another TV series. And she didn't actually announce her retirement. But don't worry about what the article actually said. It's not important.

Parker is Sandy Dennis with all of her quirks and none of her charm and warmth.
