"The world has gotten too mean for me, it's just too bitchy. All the websites and all the blogging and all the people giving their opinion and their hatred … it's all so mean-spirited, it's all so critical."
SHAME. ON. YOU!!

But after a few more plays....and another tv series.
But I hear what she's saying.

Hey, a girl's gotta eat.
and feed her goats.
If she's still willing to do plays she clearly hasn't spent any time on BWW.
I hope she doesn't quit acting like Amanda Bynes quit. *shudder*
"I (practically) quit acting! In other unrelated news, please see RIPD."
She is kind of a kook and difficult person to work with.
..What I don't get is - who the hell gossips/blogs about Mary Louise Parker..???

"who the hell gossips/blogs about Mary Louise Parker..???"
Sarah Jessica Parker and Mary Louise Wilson
She and I were born on the same day.

"I don't know if you can imagine a friend sending you something they thought was funny, that was something mean someone wrote about you and there's like 50 comments from complete strangers across the world about you..."
Get a new friend.
"She is kind of a kook and difficult person to work with."
That is the kindest I've ever heard this sentiment put.
But I do think she's a terrific actress, and I'd miss her.
I've never heard about her being difficult, but I think she's brilliant.
Let her go. Miss Ruth was a lady. And a lady always knows when to leave.
I get her point too. I sometimes wonder who the hell would ever want to be exposed to social networking.
Of course, the headline left out the word "almost" in her reflection that she was ready to quit, an "almost" which suggests that she might well have been being rhetorical to make the point.
I've always enjoyed her work. But I agree her message is bizarre here. >>>So sometime in the future, maybe after working on several different things for several more years, and then I want to do another play after that, I'll be giving up my work because the internet has become unbearable and I need to protect my children from it...several years from now...ish.<<<
I think she's a brilliant actress, but I really only watched Weeds for Elizabeth Perkins. Once Perkins was phased out, I got really bored with the show and never finished the series.
She is so spot on:
"It's sport for people, it's fun to get on at night and unleash their own self-loathing by attacking someone else who they think has a happier life - or something, I dunno."
Remember when Sean Penn said he was done with acting?
I think its a Leo thang.
My favorite thing is when actors bitch about people talking about them.

Remember when actresses said they were quitting acting and actually meant it, not just said it for attention? Greta Garbo and Doris Day come to mind.
I'm currently watching Weeds and she's excellent in it, even into Season 7. She has kept me watching even though the show has now strayed far away from its original premise.
Elizabeth Perkins was great, too, but she wasn't really needed after the third season. They kept her around for two more seasons, but she seemed out of place with the new storyline.
That goes for Kevin Nealon, too. Frankly, I loathed his character from the get-go. They had every chance to ditch him after they switched locations multiple times, but he somehow, inexplicably remains in the Botwins' lives.
