Fanning is almost too bright for her own good.

How many 12 year old girls do you know, wexy?

"Children at 12 do not have the ability to make the types of decisions that we're talking about here," he said. "If we're offended by some comedian's racial slur, why aren't we offended by somebody taking advantage of a 12-year-old child?"
is it just me, or does this comment make it sound like he's saying what Michael Richards said isn't that bad? maybe I'm looking too much into it.
In any case, the really do need to find something else to be up in arms about.

Yes, wexy, you obviously did not attend my junior high.

No, iHeart, I think he means to equate the outrage over Richards with the lack of outrage over Dakota...great logic huh?
I wonder if this joker is also against all the little girl beauty pageants and the Slumber Party Shows on Sat morning too?

Posted: 1/24/07 at 2:02pmYeah, great LACK of logic. But then again, that's not too surprising.

Posted: 1/24/07 at 2:04pmAnyone outraged over a movie has too much time on his hands.
#13re: You Go Little Girl! Dakota Speaks!
Posted: 1/24/07 at 2:05pmWell, not necessarily. If there really is something there, maybe it's justified. But this seems ridiculous. There's nothing even there to complain about! They said that they showed nothing explicit and the rape scene was completely implied. No child pornography there.

This is not new. There was outrage over Jodie Foster (Taxi Driver), Brooke Shields (Pretty Baby), Linda Blair (who now admits to having had difficulties dealing with her role in The Exorcist), and Jena Malone (Bastard Out of Carolina).

Posted: 1/24/07 at 2:08pmWell, in all fairness Rath, 3/4 of those you mentioned were over 20 years ago...I would think that with the sexualization of little girls in this country this would be small taters.

Posted: 1/24/07 at 2:09pmAll of the same material was covered in Angelica Huston's very moving film "Bastard Out of Carolina" including depicting graphic sexual violence against a minor and no one complained then. The attention is on Dakota Fanning and her high profile. I agree with the director, sexual violence against women and children needs to be openly talked about and not hid away from.

Aw, the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights has a complaint about some so-called 'porn' in a film. Maybe when the Catholic Church stops shuffling around and covering for sexually abusing priests, you know priests who are creating real victims in real life, maybe then Donohue might be able to find someone to take his complaint about a rape scene in a movie seriously.
/yes, I totally have issues with the Church.

Posted: 1/24/07 at 2:20pmQuite frankly I find it more offensive that the Catholic league objects to the portrayal of abuse in a film that may help educate and open eyes to the horror of child abuse, than actually doing something to prevent the abuse of children in general. Considering the closets of abuse in the church itself actually.

Yeah it was snappy.
Hm, too bad I loathe Dakota Fanning.
