Alterego, Passover celebrates the Jewish people's escape from slavery in Egypt, the story of Exodus. You know, Moses vs. Pharoah. :)

You know Passover is coming when your are being begged to eat the bread, popcorn, pretzels....etc.
Does anyone like chocolate matzah? I'm not too fond of it. However, I do enjoy a piece of matzah pizza once in a while. You take a regular piece of matzah (or egg, if you like that) and put pizza sauce and cheese on, stick it in then over till the cheese melts and the sides of the matzah are crispy....yumm!
Does anyone like peanut butter and jelly matzah? I know people who eat that but doesn't seem to appetizing to me. My brother likes fluff and peanut butter on matzah.
What I do love....and I could it as a meal is charoset. I guess something about the mixure of nuts, sweet wine, apples, sugar and cinnamon just perks up my tastebuds.

Plum, the majority* of Jews do two Seders to make sure that they have a seder on the correct day. The same reasoning explains why Pesach is celebrated for 8 days in most countries, but only 7 in Israel.
*however, in the past, it has been common among Reform Jews to only hold one Seder.

You know, growing up, my family only did a first night Seder. It was not until I was at least in my late teens that I even realized that some families actually had two Seders on consecutive nights!
I was raised reform, so it matches with what has been said!

Posted: 3/22/06 at 7:19amA seder is a special meal on the first night (or two) of Passover in which the story behind the holiday is retold, lots of singing and praying and reading and symbolic bits with foods (charoset, matzo, bitter herbs, hard-boiled egg, and a couple of other things I'm forgetting). All of the readings for the seder are in a book called the Haggadah. If you're really religious and follow everything in the book, it can be a couple of hours from the time you sit down to start the seder and the time you actually dig in to the main meal, but if you're like my family, you basically have the youngest person present ask the Four Questions (why is this night different from all other nights?...) and then bring out the matzo ball soup and other goodies.

I have a good story about matzoh:
My Jewish friends get sick of matzoh by the time Passover ends. They know I like it and bring in their leftovers when the holiday ends. A few years ago I had about 8 boxes of matzoh in the back of my station wagon as I was driving to a course I was taking in Whitestone, Queens. I wasn't familiar with the area and made an illegal turn. A police officer stopped me moments later.
The cop was very good-looking and his badge was blazoned with his name: "Bergman"--obviously he was Jewish. When he came over to my car, he was asking for my license and registration and when he caught glimpse of all the matzoh in the back of the car he did a double take and checked my license. Then he asked why someone with an Italian name was driving around with a car full of matzoh.
I didn't waste the opportunity to flirt and repled: "When someone is as virile and good-looking as you, Officer Bergman, they can get through life being a 'macho man'. However, when you have my looks and physique, you have to settle for being a 'matzoh man'." Officer Bergman laughed so hard he turned red and had tears running from his eyes. More importantly, he let me go with a warning--and directions to get to the place where my course was being offered.
