Brilliant. He could be in a harness the entire movie.
Yes, the ushers would all have to be female and would ALL have to wear those t-shirts. They would have to have claws and turbans on as well. I would also get little wire hanger earrings made for them all to wear.
Munk-
For the first time, you and I agree on something.
Clive Owen was the best part of Closer (which I did not like), and should have won the Oscar last year. Freeman was solid, but could have played Scrap in his sleep.
As for this year.. I love Paul Giamatti, and his performance in Cinderella Man was entertaining enough the make the movie worth seeing. But, out of the actors still in the running, I would love to see Matt Dillon take Best Supporting Actor. I despise Crash, but the acting was very good, and Dillon does his best work here.
"They would have to have claws and turbans on as well."
Ahahaha! Turbans... the scene about the "missing babies" and the "tell me this won't effect her job" scene? Hysterical. You know, when I saw Gong Li wearing something like a turban (really just a scarf around her head) in a 'Memoirs' commercial, I was afraid that movie really had descended into camp. Fortunately, in the context of the film, the image wasn't funny at all.

Since I referenced it earlier in another thread, this conversation AGAIN reminds me of SOAPDISH:
"A TURBAN?!?!? Who am I, Gloria-****ing-Swanson?!?!?" - Sally Field
When did Sally Field say that?
Swanson stole her turban from Nazimova, or maybe Anna May Wong.

It's a quote from the movie SOAPDISH - Sally played the reigning 'Saop Star', and the costume mistress - played by Kathy Najimy - tried to put her in a turban.

I'll say it again, Gwenyth Paltrow was the worst part of the sub par Proof. she was laughable. the whole movie was laughable but her performance was just so bad.
I 100000% disagree with you Zoneace. While I didn't like some of the altered aspects of the movie from the original play, there were a lot of changes I thought were fantastic and I adored Paltrow's performance.

She had no subtlty in her performance. NONE> ZERO in a role that demands subtlty
Paltrow's performance was gorgeous, nuanced, and moving. Easily the best female performance I've seen all year.

what movie were you watching? She was wooden, flat and weak. If you are looken for the best female performance all year look towards weisz in Gardener, or allen Anger, or even newton in Crash.
EDIT Hope Davis deserved the nomination before paltrow. But really Anthony Hopkins was the best performance in that movie.
She was wooden, flat and weak.
I totally disagree. I thought she was wonderful, as was Hope Davis.
Anthony Hopkins was awful. It's like he didn't even try - his performance was inconsistant and his accent was incredibly distracting.
I thought Paltrow was brilliant - the best performance she's ever given.
I agree. Anthony Hopkins is a ghastly old ham and I hated him in Proof. Paltrow, on the other hand, was just glorious. And there is an e in subtlety.
