I haven't had the opportunity to see Brokeback Mountain, but right now I'd be inclined to give Memoirs both of the awards for which its nominated, and award Wunderkind from Chronicles of Narnia (I hope that's eligible for an Oscar nod).
I haven't seen enough of the movies to make my predictions (boo to being a poor college student without a car), but I don't get all the hype for Grey's Anatomy. And I like Sandra Oh, but I haven't been overly impressed by her on Grey's Anatomy.
Best Actress, Drama - Gwyneth Paltrow
Best Score - Memoirs of a Geisha
Best Actress, TV Comedy - Mary Louise Parker
To be fair, I haven't seen enough of the films to fully comment.
I also do not get the Desperate Housewives craze. I've seen half of Season 1 on DVD, and I was kind of bored.

Am I the only one who was hideously disappointed by John Williams' score for MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA? It was such a rip-off of CROUCHING TIGER.
I haven't seen MEMOIRS, but the score is not a rip off of CROUCHING TIGER -- it is STOLEN from LAST EMPEROR -- the main theme from LE is so similar to the Sayuri goes to school track, I half expect a lawsuit.
MB -- John Williams loves to "borrow" themes and orchestrations... but usually it's from old dead composers... not live (potentially suing) ones.
I cringe every time I put on Star Wars and then listen to Gutav Holtz's "The Planets." Or Stravinsky's "Right of Spring"...and then listen to Jaws.
Bend a note here, change a cello line there... and voila! It's new.
Interesting thing about John Williams. I suppose most scores are at least a little derivative. But, if you've been writing them for 40 years, you're bound to copy others and yourself. Fun fact: One of Williams' first scores (if not the first) was Valley of the Dolls. He received an Oscar nomination for his work on a film that, imo, is campy at least partially for its music.
Anyway, I'm all about Memoirs - spins on classic fairytales, music compositions, and all. The film has encouraged me to watch more live action Chinese and Japanese films, especially any with Zhang Ziyi, Gong Li, Youki Kudoh and Michelle Yeoh in them. That's big.

Mind you, I have yet to see Match Point, Mrs. Henderson, In Her Shoes, The Producers, or Munich. But, right now, these are my winners.
Argh, I can't freaking stand Kiera Knightly. She has to be one of the top 10 most annoying celebs out there. She's about as smart as a box of hair, too.

Scrubs, Lauren Graham, Kristen Bell...oh yes. They weren't nominated.

Meffie has spoken.
aww plum you stole what i was going to say
anyways here are my snubs(just for tv, too many movies out there)
-Kristen Bell
-Lauren Graham
-Gilmore Girls
-Veronica Mars
-Arrested Development
and much more
Although I do not regularly watch the show, I will agree that GILMORE GIRLS is completely underrated, as is Lauren Graham.
I would love to see Matt Dillon win the Oscar for this one. I know Paul Giamatti WILL win the Oscar (because of his infamous snub last year,) but his performance in CINDERELLA MAN is good. Great, even - but he doesn't deserve the Oscar over anyone else, especially Dillon.
Could Giamatti's performance in CINDERELLA MAN be this year's most overrated performance?
Well, it can't be overrated because we know people are celebrating Giamatti the snubbed actor and not Giamatti who gave the best supporting actor performance of the year.
I don't think his win is a given. There isn't much interest in Cinderella Man now that it has been out on DVD. I would expect Jake Gyllenhaal to be nominated for supporting actor (Brokeback Mountain) and win before Giamatti does.

Giamatti will win the Oscar. Mainly because (a la Renee Zellweger) his two previous (stunning) performances were both shunned by the Academy. Zellweger gave two first rate performances in BRIDGID JONES' DIARY and CHICAGO, in the two prior years, respectively. Her performance in COLD MOUNTAIN, while very good, wasn't near the caliber of her two previous performances and with no real fierce Supporting Actresses battling her, she won. Clean and easy. The same exact thing will happen for Giamatti this year. His performances in AMERICAN SPLENDOR and SIDEWAYS, both shunned by the Oscars, were excellent and his performance in CINDERELLA MAN was consistent and enetertaining but nothing near his two previous performances. So, with not much competition in his category this year, he will win as a payment and gratitude for his two previous performances which were both phenomenal.
Anyway...
