I can hit most of the stuff Sherie Rene and Idina do. Jenna Leigh Green, too. I can hit her stuff. Amy Spanger, maybe? It depends though, because my voice can be a real whore sometimes.
It'd be much easier if this was a 'What role does your voice fit'. Because that's a broader spectrum. And because putting these people together is like, "Wait .. what? Reluctant turn, inquisitive head tilt?" It makes no sense this way. But the parts they do, I can hit most of the stuff.
I don't have an over inflated ego, I just sound a lot like those people.
I also sound like Kerry Butler sortof. When I do soprano, I sound a little like Barbara Cook, until I try to go too high and then I sound like Emmy Rossum.
I sing better than Harvey. I can just do a mean impersonation.
You all DO realize there is more to performing than just singing.
Hundreds of people can "hit" the notes.
I'm sorry, but did I miss Melanie Griffith becoming a Broadway Star?

errrrmm...if I sounded like any of them I would be on Broadway right now.
I've got to agree with what colleen_lee said. I can sing along to a lot of Sutton's songs and hit the notes (or at least most of them), but it doesn't mean that the resulting sound imitates all the aspects of her voice. In fact, my voice is nowhere NEAR Broadway quality.
I'm not singling out anyone on this thread, and who knows, maybe some people here CAN indeed sing like the stars, but just because you can hit their notes doesn't mean you sound like them.
Ok...shouldn't this title be "Your voice is most like which Broadway stars?"
That being said....one of my students told me I sounded like Kristin Chenoweth the other day (not that I'm agreeing, but it was a nice complement! LOL)
I always wanted to sound like Shirley Jones. As a legit soprano, I have used music from most of her "roles' for auditons.
Wendy, do you teach choir? That was my original goal......
Just a personal opinion, but why the hell would you want to sound like anyone who's on, or has been on Broadway? That would just be boring, then you probably wouldn't ever get picked for a role because you'd be considered just another Julie Andrews, or Idina, or Carol Burnett wanna-be, not that they aren't amazing singers/actresses, but originality is what got them to Broadway in the first place. My biggest fear in an audition is being compared to someone who's already famous, because what then would I have to offer if it's already out there?
I changed the title.
Alot of times when I sing I get "OMG you sound like Belle" or "Wow you sound like that little mermaid chick" SO I guess I sound like Jodi Benson and Paige O'Hara.
Elphaba--
I teach elementary vocal music. I have a 4th and 5th grade choir. The comment from my student came because I put "Let Yourself Go" as the first song when you open my teacherweb webpage. They didn't know who they were listening to, but they liked it, and one girl said "Yeah...it sounds like you!"
I love Jodi Benson's voice it is incredibly beautiful. You are very blessed
----
I sound a little like Madonna in Evita and Carly Simon mixed.
mymaureen,
I don't know. Maybe if we sounded like someone we wanted to sound like we'd never have to buy any more mp3s. We could just be an egomaniac and indulge in our own voice.
No seriously, I don't think most of us want to song exactly like the people we look up too, but most of us would not shed a tear if we sounded a little more like them.
Wendy, that's very cool......here they've cut some of the elem music classes, so they are much larger.
I wanted to teach HS choir and also have the marching band......
Elphaba, I think the Melanie Griffith comment is probably a joke.

My dad tells me I sound like Daphne Rubin-Vega. He's usually pretty honest. I can hit some decent notes, though, I can hit all of the notes in Aida. *shrug*
My friend Cassie sounds identical to Gwen Stewart... and Cassie is a 17 year old white girl. She's REALLY good, and has the charisma and confidence behind it, so it makes it 3948305748574X better.
Lisa Vroman
and sometimes Rachel York
A not good mix of Raul, Norbert, and Cerveris.
I've been compared to Patti LuPone.
Sutton's, definitely. I've also gotten comparisons to Danielle Ferland circa 1988.
I sound like a mix between Terrence Mann, Hunter Foster, and a little bit of Raul Esparza.
Ok now that I actually give myself time to think about it here is mine. Scratch what I wrote earlier its false.
Ok so I sound a little like Lea Salonga and Susan Egan.

"Well... I'm able to sing like Sutton a little, a little like Kerry Butler. When I overbelt I kinda sound like Idina and not in a good way. Thats why I'm trying not to do that anymore."
Nice...two of my favorite female singers in the world!
I sound like an out of work Broadway Star. So much so, it's shocking.
