A southern week...
Well, given my family tree, at least 1/4 of me ought to be very comfortable...
In fact, my maternal grandmother was working at a Five and Ten Cent Store when she met my Granfather who was down from the North to go to trade school. She adamantly told him she was not gonna date no damn Yankee. But she did and he proposed & asked her to come back home with him (upper New York State) to his family's spaghetti farm and she agreed--she'd never had spaghetti. (And, since we're not Italian, I don't know why he picked that particular line...)
Flash to 2005...doesn't this shed a bit more light on beacon1...

Yes, grandma must not have been the sharpest crayon in the box...
She was a party girl...which did not sit well with her very proper mother-in-law.

Cammy, my granfather's great grandfather married a gal in the Mohawk Valley of New York state then took her further west in NY (early 1800s) where folks were pushing further into the wilderness.
They managed a posh farm for a local Judge and saved for some land of their own. GGGgrandpa purchased land which was a good distance from the Judge's place so he and friends built it without the wife ever seeing it. She was not happy being in a sparsely settled land in the first place and this new home was even more remote.
To get her to go to the new house without fussing, etc. the day of the big move he and his friends dawdled all day packing the wagon, etc so they didn't leave for the new house until late in the day. By the time they arrived at the new house (with 3 youngsters in tow) it was too dark to see much of anything.
It wasn't until the next morning when she stepped out her front door that she realized just how more "in the wilderness" they were...
It CAN'T have been a cheerful breakfast table that morning...

It must be neat to know this about your family. My family's so hickish they couldn't be bothered to remember much beyond our great grandparents' names.
hmm.... lairs in beacon's family even back then....

Actually, Beac, I would love to know. Now's a HORRIBLE time to get started on it, though, but soon, I would love to dig into the family history.
Wow Beacs.. Thats insanity.. it's ok though.. My grandfather got my grandmother with a little bit of deceit. she was working in a diner as a waitress and he took a picture of her. Well he got her address so that he could bring the picture to her once it got developed. All the while knowing there was no film in the camera... he was a little devil I tell ya

Cammy, it's amazing the stories that you find...and the black sheep! I have a bigamist who fought on both sides of the Civil War...I guess sticking with a decision just wasn't in him.
Mister Singer...whenever you want to start just ask...you know where to find me...
just listen for the sound of Patrick Wilson weeping and babbling incoherently.
