i'm wondering your thoughts. i've generally found that whichever someone read first they thought it was better. i read a+d first and thought it was much better, but then people i know that read dc first loved it more.
so what are your votes... and which did you read first?

I read Da Vinci Code first, was left feeling somewhat underwhelmed after all the hype, and then read Angels and Demons and vastly preferred it.
So I guess I defy your theory?

I read DaVinci Code first, but thought Angels and Demons was a much more exciting and better written novel.

Posted: 12/18/05 at 12:00amI read the Da Vinci code first, and I liked its source material better, but I preferred Angels and Demons, I think. It was better written, and more engaging, IMO, even though I really like art history.

I liked both. I read Da Vinci Code first and then Angels and Demons a few months later.
I vastly prefer Angels and Demons and find it to be a much better book.

Posted: 12/18/05 at 12:19amYes, I agree with everyone. TDC first then Angels and Demons. I found A & D more exciting and vastly more interesting with its theories of finding god in science. Nice twist at the end too.

Posted: 12/18/05 at 12:29amHmmm....maybe I'll have to read Angels and Demons. I had been planning on reading it eventually but I hadn't really heard anything about it so I didn't feel terribly compelled. Perhaps I'll have to go pick it up.

re: davinci code VS. angels and demons#11
Posted: 12/18/05 at 12:45amI resisted reading DaVinci Code for a long time out of sheer stubbornness; everyone at my work was drooling over how fantastic and amazing it was and they irritated me. So I finally got around to reading it, and it was a decent book, though the subject matter was better than the writing itself. I went on to read A&D, and that one just had me riveted... I much prefer A&D to DaVinci Code.

Posted: 12/18/05 at 12:46amTo me angels and demons is a better ,but the only problem is that it takes a while to actually start up while the davinci code dives right in there.

I read The DaVinci Code first and, though I found the research very impressive and the plot riveting, the writing itself was embarrassingly abysmal. It was a real page-turner tho, I stayed up through a night reading it cuz I just didn't want to stop.
Angels and Demons took me awhile to get through cuz there were points when I just kinda..didn't care so much. But I thought the writing was mildly better. And, idunno, I just like anything about the Illuminati cuz I'm a Tomb Raider fan :)
Overall, I don't really think much of Dan Brown's prose. Of course, his books are just purely about exciting plotlines so..whatever.

I liked The Da Vinci Code, but only because it mentioned something about my family.
BUT, Dan Brown missed out something even more important when talking about this thing, as it actually fixes one of the plotholes...

Posted: 12/18/05 at 9:48amI read the DA VINCI CODE first. Both novels are engrossing garbage. Really, did Dan Brown expect any intelligent person to accept the denouement of either book? I ask you!

re: davinci code VS. angels and demons#24
Posted: 12/18/05 at 5:49pmI loved both but definitely prefered Angels & Demons, which I read after DaVinci Code. I thought Digital Fortress was Dan Brown's weakest book; it lacked the action, excitment, and history of Angels and DaVinci. I did really like Deception Point, about equal to DaVinci code, it was very engaging. I hope Dan Brown comes out with a new novel soon, it's been ages!
