dream role#1

Posted: 6/7/08 at 2:26am

i know this question is obvious and asked a lot, but i'm bored and curious, so i'm going to ask it anyway. if you could pick one role as your dream role, what would it be?

for me, i would have to say it's officer lockstock from urinetown. i would kill for that part!

One of the two witches in Wicked... Elphaba is a more challanging part for me.
Millie in Thoroughly Moderen Millie.
Mary in JCS
Christine in Phantom
Johanna in Sweeney
Viv in Legally Blonde
Narrarator in Joseph
Maureen in Rent (not that I like girls, just to clear that up)
And those are just the "Big time shows," that's not including the less popular shows.

I'll venture into that another day haha.

As a young soprano, my dream role is either Eliza Doolittle in 'My Fair Lady' or Nellie Collins in 'Floyd Collins'.

If age is no issue, my dream role is Norma Desmond in 'Sunset Boulevard'.

If age and gender are no issue, my dream role is currently Judge Turpin in 'Sweeney Todd', but this one does rotate periodically and could easily be something else in a month or two. ^_^

Wait, are we just doing musicals? 'Cos as plays go, I'd KILL to play Henry V. Somehow. O_O

Johanna in Sweeney Todd
Ilse and/or Wendla (not at the same time) in Spring Awakening

"You have two kinds of shows on Broadway – revivals and the same kind of musicals over and over again, all spectacles. You get your tickets for The Lion King a year in advance, and essentially a family... pass on to their children the idea that that's what the theater is – a spectacular musical you see once a year, a stage version of a movie. It has nothing to do with theater at all. It has to do with seeing what is familiar.... I don't think the theatre will die per se, but it's never going to be what it was.... It's a tourist attraction." Stephen Sondheim

I have wanted to play the Bakers Wife from Into the Woods since I saw it in 5th grade.

Johanna: Sweeney Todd
Glinda: Wicked
Eliza: My Fair Lady
Audrey: Little Shop of Horrors
Cunegonde: Candide

I just got cast as my number one dream role, Belle.
But once I'm done with Belle, i think it may be a tie between Fantine and Fanny Brice. Or Jo/Beth in Little Women. Or Louise in Gypsy...or Dot in SITPWG...yeah I have way too many hahaha.
But right now, I am perfectly content being Belle!

If age, gender, race, and vocal part were not an issue my dream role would be Jim in BIG RIVER. Big dream for a little white soprano.

Realistic dream roles are:
The Witch in INTO THE WOODS
Cinderella in CINDERELLA
Kate/Lilli in KISS ME, KATE (already done this one, but its my fav.)
Mary Lane in REEFER MADNESS
Any character in LITTLE WOMEN
Johanna in SWEENEY TODD
Cunegonde in CANDIDE
Mabel in PIRATES OF PENZANCE

My dream role is Jekyll/Hyde. Meaning this is the role I'm aspiring to play at some point in my career.

The part that I probably will never play is Peter in Bare (we're pretty much the same person haha). I just don't forsee many productions of this anytime soon. But maybe.

Toad in A Year With Frog and Toad
Snoopy in You're a Good Man Charlie Brown
Anybody in ANY Sondheim show
And even though I don't like the show that much, I'd want to be Leading Player in Pippin

Also, if they ever decide to cast Fanny Brice as a boy, count me in!

Comedy is much more difficult than tragedy-and a much better training, I think. It's much easier to make people cry than to make them laugh.

Anthony in Sweeney Todd...and I got it! But then the show fell apart. So I did all the character work and there's no show! Dammit!
