wow. it reads like a bww post.
"the tactics of the israel lobby plumb the depths of dishonor and indecency and include character assassination, selective misquotation, the willful distortion of the record, the fabrication of falsehoods, and an utter disregard for the truth," he said. "the aim of this lobby is control of the policy process through the exercise of a veto over the appointment of people who dispute the wisdom of its views, the substitution of political correctness for analysis, and the exclusion of any and all options for decision by americans and our government other than those that it favors."
Wow. That's just sad.
speaking of "plumbing the depths" shira...
Blaming the Jews is SO 1930s.
well, that would fit in with much of what this administration has planned.
I was in the Israel Lobby the other day, waiting for an elevator.

Well if they weren't so money grubbing...
So, instead of setting the record straight and defending his postions, he withdraws? Geez...what a wuss.
he knew he could not win against the israel lobby, jag. this way he is a martyr and can highlight the power that they have to drive good people from the halls of power with their plumbing. it's kinda like the sexting controversy without the nudity or suicide.

The mainstream Israel lobby in the U.S. is evil, though, and their success in conflating "pro-Israel" with "pro-Likud" in the minds of influential American Jews has earned them my undying hatred. They've completely distorted the argument so being against Israel's routine human rights violations is suddenly the same thing as wanting Israel not to exist for the sake of those poor blameless Palestinians. Which I resent on a pretty personal level - I hate the Likudniks and Hamas, because I'm gifted that way, and I'm pretty freaking tired of being invisible in debates about the region.
That said, more stupid finger-pointing is exactly what isn't needed in the Israel/Palestine mess. The "who's a bigger meanie" game is really freaking old at this point. So Freeman can shut the hell up, too. (And I found his connection to a Chinese oil company waaay more troubling than his harsh-for-diplomacy but true statements about Israel.)
