It was kind of ridiculous for Callie and Arizona to kiss after all of the scary events that just happened, them being lesbians has NOTHING to do with it. It would have been just as ridiculous if Owen and Christina kissed after all of those horrifying events. In real life people did not make out after experiencing a terrifying events like those.

Everyone's Facebook status was about the finale, so I had to turn it on. Wow, that was crazy! People getting shot left and right and a miscarriage to top it all of.

It was over the top, but engrossing.

It was one way to get rid of the Drs. they did not want to bring back next season!

I thought Sandra Oh and Ellen P were absolutely amazing with their arcs throughout the show. Avery has also grown on me.

Chandra was also freaking amazing.

I just don't understand why the SWAT guy would miss so badly and let him continue to walk around with a gun. That seemed totally off to me.

I loved it as well. Interestingly, despite not liking the Mercy West guy that was with Bailey, I think that was one of the most heartbreaking parts of the episode. I guess I had no feelings for Reed in the beginning because it was just quick, and I didn't like her at all.

I find it interesting that Callie was not the one to fall apart when the shooter got up to pediatrics, but Arizona did. That definitely adds to the type of person she is. It seems as though when she doesn't have control of situations she breaks down or backs away.

I wonder if there was a shooting she witnessed when younger which triggered her reaction (and her commitment to peds). The way she reacted was very primal, as though she reverted to something earlier. Maybe she was an abuse victim that has not been disclosed, but it made me think that there was something clearly there that has to be addressed.

The Mercy West guy dying was heart breaking - he did a wonderful job.

This. So many things felt so totally off to me, I kept asking questions all night... Derek's assistant coming out and running *towards* him and the gunman? the way that this hospital has NO doors with locks on them apparently, as the gunman wandered into wherever he wanted (during a lockdown, even after being shot by SWAT, he encountered no locked doors in the entire two hours)? why couldn't Bailey and Mandy Moore have lowered her hospital bed (with wheels) and pull the doctor onto that and just be able to wheel him to the elevators? and/or call 911 and ask/tell for the elevators to be turned on? How do Christina and Meredith not know how lockdown works, don't they practice that sort of emergency plan thing, like most workplaces do? Especially after the code black from wayback in season two? And just so. many. questions... (eta: the way people (Richard, Owen) kept being able to just run *into* the building?) AND, after all of that carnage, the gunman failed in killing any of the three names on his list, because he didn't have enough bullets, because he brought booze instead?

Yet when Bailey sat down with that doctor and said yes you are going to die I totally started CRYING. Everyone completely rocked that scene.

Interesting theory to Arizona's reaction. That was not what I was thinking at all, but it could very well also trigger her trust issues to Callie as well.

The door lock issue, someone who works in a hospital told me that they don't have locks on at least the patient's rooms. I guess that would make sense if someone had to get into one, and the person was trying to kill themselves or whatever.

I've just come to the conclusion that Meredith is just a very foolish person. I mean, look at all the stuff she has had happen to her in past seasons. Leave it to her and Cristina to be oblivious to the entire hospital being empty when they were walking around. And then she told the guy to kill her instead of Derek.

Hmm now I'm trying to remember hospitals I've been in, and if there were patient locks on the doors or not. But there should have at least been locks on the various areas/wings/etc., like the gunman should have found himself confined to one area, not up in pediatrics, then down in the or, then up on the crossover, etc. No areas of this hospital that one needs an id badge to be able to swipe into, nothing?

And then the big deal that he let Bailey go when she said she was a nurse, because he only wanted to kill surgeons, and then he shot that one nurse while he was walking up the stairs?

I know, I'm completely overthinking it, but I just found myself asking "but...?" "why...?" to so much of last night's episode I wondered if I was the only one.

"This. So many things felt so totally off to me, I kept asking questions all night... Derek's assistant coming out and running *towards* him and the gunman? the way that this hospital has NO doors with locks on them "

that's true. in most hospitals, especially in PEDS there is a code to get through the doors to where patients are.

I don't know if it was the best finale ever as has been said. it was fantastic and i agree about the acting as well. some of it was contrived, but all in all...great!

i still always remember when Denny died. gut wrenching. the acting in that was superb too.

also the CODE BLACK finale. kept me riveted.

No, not yet at least.

Alex was shot up pretty good, and Christina did a complex surgery on Derek.

The only certain deaths were a couple of annoying Mercy West folks.

Callie's reaction was to show how maternal she is. There was actually a song that Callie sang that got cut because of time limits. I can only assume she was singing to a kid and not randomly losing it. It will be on the season 6 box set with 18 additional minutes of the finale. (way to get Sara fans to buy overpriced DVDs, Shonda!)

Yeah, I know about that. I'm guessing it probably was to that little girl she and Arizona were with most of the time. Actually, this is one season I wouldn't mind having because there were more episodes I liked than disliked.

We watched cuddling, holding hands and shrieking. It will be added to the collection when it's cheap and they won't ask for my first born in return for shipping!

It was over the top, but I thought it was well done in Grey's terms. God, though, why couldn't that obnoxious girl they already got rid of once get shot instead of the cute guy with the dark hair? Even bitchy Reed was less annoying that whatever that girl's name is.

I really kind of hate when characters get pregnant, so I wasn't happy for Meredith's pregnancy, but then when she miscarried I felt bad. I feel like it was my fault!

I guess the lesson of Mr. Clark's arc is that you make sure your spouse is on board with your end of life decisions before you're incapable of making them anymore.

I think that was the most depressing two episodes of any show I've seen. For a series that mostly descended into nighttime soap opera mush, the intensity of the situation really came out of nowhere. Yeah, they took some dramatic license with the lockdown situation, but not a lot. I used to work in a hospital and for reasons of safety, there are very few locked doors other than supply rooms. Especially the wings, which are usually automatic doors that need to accommodate gurneys quickly in emergency situations. The only wing that was locked down regularly was the children's psychiatric ward.

Can Chandra please get her overdue Emmy now? The producers owe her a huge raise for making the material look much better than it is.

^ Tell me about it. I find it interesting how this show has 3 consistantly strong actresses. In my opinion, it is Chandra Wilson, Sandra Oh, and Sara Ramirez. And then Kahterine Heigl is the only one who gets noticed, and she isn't the best and never has been. I'm not just saying that because I dislike her now. Her performances just never did anything for me.

Woah Bailey was originally going to shot but that was changed at the last minute! I don't think I could have handled that.

not true at all. there were probably many doors that could lock down that you didn't know about.

by definition, any inpatient psychiatric ward is going to be locked down.

any infant ward is going to be locked down to prevent baby theft.

there are also "fire doors" that can be clamped down in an emergency.
