I hated Vanessa, but the film was better than I expected. And I expected nothing. It wasn't awful, but not amazing. Zac's angry song: steamy.
But, my fav is still Ryan.

I have to say, some things about this one were better than the first, and some things were worse. As such, the movie was just AS sucky as the first overall.
Individual components that were better:
-Zac Efron's "voice"
-The choreography was actually quite good, as were all of the dancers
-Some of the songs (e.g. Vanessa's woe is me song towards the end was actually quite good, lockers or not)
-Lucas Grabeel (yowza)
-Ashley Tisdale
-"Hit it out of the Park/I Don't Dance" was better than "Get Your Head in the Game"
Individual components that were worse:
-Zac Efron's acting and the stupid faces he makes to convey emotion (if that's even possible)
-Vanessa blew in general
-Some of the songs (Troy's golf course romp)
-The sound quality
Overall the quality of the movie was about the same as the first one...****ty.

Posted: 8/20/07 at 1:32amWel I tuned in on Thursday to watch the 1st one just to see what all the hoopla was about. Not a materpiece but I was a wee bit hooked. Had to see #2 just to see if it was any better. The lip syncing was not as good as the 1st. And troy buffed up in like what? A week?! And in the song for the show Gabriella magically had Troy's necklace on when she "appeared" to sing with him. And what was up with Troy's underwear showing from time to time. I taped it and watched part of it and never noticed it. my little niece pointed it out to me. And yes, that golf course romp was a bit cheesey. But I did like the baseball number. They surely left it open for at least one more movie.....And I will probably watch it if there is one!

I watched it out of curiosity last night. It was....really bad. Some of the songs were okay, but the plot and acting were really bad. Vanessa's laughing was really annoying.
The only thing I liked was Ryan's character.

What about that was High School Musical?. Only one number actually took place in the school. It was more like Summer Vacation/Country Club Musical. I love how everyone can sight read music and be able to perform it full out right there on the spot.
I wasn't blown away by the first one. In fact, I never understood the appeal. Everyone in it has 5 note range. This one was even worse.

I'm bumping this because... I actually enjoyed it *hides*
granted of course it's completely teenybopper, all but two of the voices (Lucas's and Zac's) sounded completely computerized, and the acting was a bit laughable at times (with the exception of Lucas again and Ashley Tisdale, who surprisingly made me really feel bad for her in the end). But it was still really fun! And hullo, Bet On It. Most hysterical thing I have ever seen. EVER. It's a good thing Zac's gorgeous or else it would have been painful instead of really funny :P
But seriously, the choreography was actually MUCH improved I thought. And.. dare I say... with some big exceptions, it was even verging on GOOD choreography! Some of it was ridiculous (again, Bet On It, and also the wave thingy in What Time Is It), but those kids actually really CAN dance. I thought Work This Out was very cool, and I Don't Dance was awesome (except Corbin's voice annoys the heck out of me. But the dancing's great).
Most improved thing about the movie though? Zac's voice. kldjfsklaj it is SO refreshing because it actually sounds REAL instead of Drew Seeley's (who did the dubbing in HSM1)! Granted Drew has quite a good voice, but it seemed so FAKE when paired with Zac's deeper speaking voice and made it seem like Troy was going "oh no I don't sing.. *starts singing in a very effected, popstar voice*". It was just ridiculous. Plus, Zac's voice is just prettier and purer anyway. It may not be technically as good, but he has gorgeous tone and great pitch! It felt so natural and gave much more legitimacy to the music.
So yeah, unlike the first movie which was only fun because it was SO campy and fake, this one actually had moments where I thought "if there were some changes in casting (*cough*Vanessa who's not a great actress OR singer*cough*), choreography, and the acting was better, this might ACTUALLY be a legitimately decent movie musical!"
And.. I really do like the music. A lot. I've kind of been listening to it almost all day. And don't even get me started on how much I cannot get Sharpay's version of You Are the Music In Me out of my head. It's too damn catchy!!
ok, I'm done rambling now. But really, it was cute. It was
(and Zac has gotten full on legit GORGEOUS. Those EYES and that BODY omg)
