I died a little when I watched this one... and yes, I did sit around with my friends and watch HSM2 on the last Friday night of summer break.

Is there at least one HSM2 thread on every board?

Yes. It was painful to watch. Very stupid... My friend thought it was better than the first one, but I disagree. The singing...er the lip syncing was much better in this one... but it REALLY bothered me--the quality of the songs was awful. The actual audio quality, I mean. It sounds like the actors were singing into very cheap mics... just sounded very cheap. Disney KNEW how much money they were going to make off this movie--they could afford to make it sound a lot better. Very disappointing.

...I mean... uh... I didn't watch it. I was out... partying on my Friday night... yeaaaaahh... heh.

I watched it. And liked it.

Although there were a few insanely cheesy moments...For one, I couldn't stop laughing during the Bet On It number. Zac Efron is hot, and I love that song-but he looked rigoddamndiculous through that whole thing.

Ashley Tisdale plays a good, spoiled, stuck up, bitchy, diva. Although from what I've heard, it's not a huge stretch for her...

Vanessa Hudgens is terrible.

Lucas Grabeel & Corbin Bleu, both=Hot. And talented. But also hot. Also, "I Don't Dance" is now apparently code for "I want to have hot sweaty passionate man on man buttsex with you. Right here, right now. But don't tell anyone." Seriously, the homoerotic fantasies involving Chad & Ryan this movie brings up will be replacing the ocean in my daydreams for quite awhile.

Did anybody else notice that there must have been a fan under Zac Efron in every single song to blow up his shirt and hair?

I thought you meant a fan as an actual person blowing up his shirt. I was thinking Disney was going a new direction with HSM.

i watched it, it was so hysterically bad it was awesome. when Zac stormed off I thought he was gonna go look for the snotty bitch, but no, it was time to sing a song on the golf course, to himself... classic.

props to Disney for putting in all the homoerotic, and sexual inuendo... that would go over everyone's heads... and still make us all laugh. :) I still want to meet the person who designed the cafeteria set... The plot was ridiculous and weak... the numbers sounded like Britney Spears... and the song at the end between Gabriella and Troy had the EXACT opening chords of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight.." Everyone at the ...I don't want to call it a party... all were singing it as a counter melody that went scarily with the song... and why is Vanessa Hudgens always framed by lockers when she sings her sad angsty diva balads? but yes... at least the dancing was impressive. and most of the cast was pretty to look at.

that's a really big mic...

"I still want to meet the person who designed the cafeteria set"

Random, but thought I'd share... it's not a set built for the movie. It's an actual cafeteria and the school rents it out for birthday parties on weekends and summer vacation. Just a little fun fact.

PS I loved it! It was definitely awkward at times, but what DCOM doesn't have it's off moments. So much fun and I'm totally down for the Wildcat Chat tomorrow.

that is hilarious Chard. Can you imagine having your birthday party at your school? I would never forgive my parents!
I wonder if you have to pay extra to get the lunch ladies to serve the cake.

I didn't even bother watching. I saw the first one before all the hype started up about it and really didn't like it. I figured it was just a little TV movie that will go away...and I was wrong.

I knew HSM 2 would be crap. Just like the first one.

Also, this belongs on the Off-Topic board.

aaaand we also already have been discussing this much in the "High School Musical-Thoughts" thread.

but anyways, pretty much, this wasnt as "good" as the first one, mostly because of the music. liked the story, though.

I thought it was stupid. I couldn't understand what anyone was singing because the voices were completely computerized. The plot has been done before by Disney. It was dangerously cheesy for so many moments and I did multiple eye rolls and face palms. Although, I still like Ryan, he's the only decent and believable character to me. And that song between him and Chad was probably the best song in the movie, though it was a bit ironic cause Chad was dancing while singing "I don't dance".

So, I think it was slightly better than th first one. But only slightly.

I'm not a gay stereotype. I'm a coincidence.

The first hour was actually bearable. I liked it better than the first one for only reason: it was not as oblivious (thus ultimately downright disrespectful) to the art form of musical theatre as this one was.

However, it was still pretty bad. I hate story lines like these where friends start hating each other within a ten minute period because they are jealous fools. I actually thought Troy did nothing wrong, and his friends were the jerks. (I stopped watching at 9:22, so I do not know what else happened).

How to properly use its/it's: Its is the possessive. It's is the contraction for it is...

Falling out of my chair, laughing my as* off!!

I was amused that Chad sings "I Don't Dance" and then busts a move.

I could have done without the cheesey dialogue during commercial breaks.

Cheese, cheese and more cheese....but the kids loved it. I actually hung out with my former 8th graders last night and watched the movie with them. As far as the tween/teen set go, this was a huge hit. This was the group of kids that were in my production of High School Musical (the one act version) last April. So they LOVED the whole thing!

I thought the dancing was good and I liked Sharpay's clothes.

Um, I did like Zac's angry song, too. He is a cutie! LOL!

I know there is a HSM 3 in the making. I guess Sharpay will get mean again and then have a change of heart - again. I did like how Ryan stood up to her, though. Oh, and when she asked the drummer for a beat just to leave the room - that was awesome!

I thought they lost it. It didn't have near as much DCOM-y crappiness (don't get me wrong there were some "awful"-ly funny moments too, just not as many as the first one) and it kind of drug not to mention the story was kind of aggravating.

And why did they make Sharpay so evil? She wasn't funny, she was just mean! And then at the end when you think she's reformed, Ryan's super-mean to her. LATER they decide out of no where to be nice to her again. I don't get it.

I was expecting campy craziness like the first one and I didn't get it. Lame. The 12 year olds will love anything with the High School Musical brand on it though.
