I hope this isn't a stupid question...

Some of my cast recordings are coming up as separate albums because different artists are listed on some of the tracks. How do I get each album to be together without changing the artists names manually? This has annoyed me for a while and seems there has to be some solution I'm not finding. Thanks in advance!

It's been a while since I've done it. But try these options...
-hold down your Ctrl button and select all the tracks, then right click and go to the info tab and change all the tracks at once to be the same thing.
-try selecting them all and checking the box that says, part of a compilation.

I also highlight all of the tracks, and click 'get info'. In that window, there's an option for "select album artist" - change that so it affects every track (to something like "Company Original Broadway Cast", for example), and it should come up as one album.

Thanks artscallion, that was bothering me too.

And why does it only apply to some albums - most are fine!

It all depends on how the tracks are tagged. With a cast recording if each track is tagged with only the singers on that track and no overall album artist then it's going to think that it's a bunch of different albums with the same name. Many times you won't see this happen because the tagging is not very specific. You'll notice that either all the tracks have the same artist label (original cast, or only the leads regardless of who's singing the track, the composer, etc) or they actually have the album artist track pre-tagged along with the actual artist information on each track.
