I love me some Heywood, Eames or Noguchi (coffee table)!.
Someone REALLY nice GAVE me (free) 2 pcs. of Heywood a coupla yrs ago. I keep on staring at them. Have the Credenza and the 2 tier boomerang corner sofa table I'm in love with this stuff, but lost lost out big time to an automatic bidder on Ebay the other day for a fantastically cheap price on a Heywood Dining Set - 6 Dogbone Chairs, and the inimitable Whalebone Table.
Shucks. And it was only 20 blocks away.
If anyone's ever selling a Dining Set (in good condition), let me know.

I grew up with a Heywood-Wakefield living room. It was all custom made for my parents as a wedding gift from my grandparents in the mid-50s. Two one-armed sofas. There was a big corner table where the two armless edges of the sofas met and a boomerang coffee table in front, two end tables and a chest of drawers. The sofas were light green with metallic thread in the fabric.
All the pieces are still in the family between my sister and mother. You'll be the first one I think of if they ever decide to part with any of it. It really is amazingly stylish stuff.
PS...you can shorten those long links by going to tinyurl.com (coincidentally named? LOL) Put in the long link and it gives you a short one you can use instead.
thanks tiny! I'm no expert on furniture design but I do know what I like and that's the Heywood line. I remember those pieces in my home, lol. I love the blond wood tones and I can see it with McCoy pottery.
My PC isll ****ed up. No LINKS work, incl. "tinyurl". Viruses or something...so annoying.
@jane - I didn't really know anything about Heywood until I got the pieces. Then started studying about it, buying coffee table books, etc. and then, ALL midcentury/atomic. I also like Pantone, "spaghetti" lamps, etc.
About 8 yrs. ago, when Ebay was GOOD, and CHEAP, I scored some really fantastic fiberglass atomic lamps - one of a kind. I love them. They're super expensive now, like 80-200+.00. My winning bids back then were about 35.00. I hate Ebay now, w/the ridiculous shipping chgs, and the automatic bidding software that some bidders use. That should not be allowed imho. So unfair. You just can't beat the system on some popular items.
tiny, I don't know anything about eBay, but the Midcentury Modern craze really took off here in Palm Springs about 8 years ago. It's very much the thing for upwardly mobile gay couples in SF and Seattle to buy a mid-century modern house here and then furnish it with authentic pieces of the period.
Personally, I can be happy with reproductions. My Barcelona chair may have been made in China, but it was built to van der Rohes' specifications and the leather isn't shredded. (And it cost 1/4 to 1/8 of what an authentic original in poor condition would cost.)
If ya'll are collectors, you might check out furniture stores in the Palm Springs area.

I was in Palm Springs for a couple weeks ago the mid-century architecture event.
An acquittance who owns a furniture store did VERY well that week.
tiny, I"m not much of a furniture maven or a collectibles person. I'm more of an appreciator of the visual arts. I'll start a thread if I can come up with a proper topic.

Sorry we missed you, Almira, but good for your friend!
Sorry I missed you too, GavestonPS.
I *think* we are at the same performance of FOLLIES once too.
Ah...One day....
Actually, the HEywood goes better with Russell Wright.
It doesn't really fit in with my stuff, but I have to say there are things in that collection that I really like!
