I'm sorry, I HATED The Catcher In The Rye and it has nothing to do with not knowing where Holden was coming from or being too similar. It was the writing style that I hated. I don't think I'd mind it half as much if they took out the word "goddamn" from it. Then maybe it would be at least semi-readable.
Also, I agree with Great Expectations. It was five hundred freaking pages long. I got a C in English because of that book.
And as for the Bible...my favorite thing to do in Barnes and Noble is to put all of the Bibles in the fiction section.
I adore Animal Farm. George Orwell's 1984 and Animal Farm are two of my favorite books. Then again, the whole metaphor thing is very interesting to me and I appreciate how difficult that would have been to write.
