it's for the good of the party, ywiw. she simply must stop this madness before it tears the party apart!!! bammy is allah's chosen candidate! for her to deny that is blasphemous, but typical for a woman and a white woman at that.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

If she picks up 20-30 delegates tonight, and closes the margin, I wonder what will folks say.

I have a feeling that the Texas Caucus results may be challenged based upon the mass confusion.

I wanted to have some excitement about this, but I can't.
It isn't because I dislike Hillary, although her ability to regain my support goes down considerably nearly everyday.

This just means at least 7 more weeks of extreme vitriol and ripping of the party (from both sides).
Hillary's plan now is to win with superdelegates, it has to be. I expect her to win in PA too.

Nothing about it is encouraging in the slightest.

the trouble is that the districts with the most delegates are the ones in which she doesn't do so well. they are majority african-american and got more delegates based on their '04 turnout. i really doubt she closes the delegate gap in any real way or even puts a dent in his lead. but yeah, the lawyers will decide the texas caucus.

Obama just congratulated Clinton for winning Ohio and Rhode Island, which is something she couldn't be bothered with in the past 11 contests.
It isn't meaningful, but it is indicative of the type of thing Clinton keeps doing to turn people like me off.

So, can Obama win with the delegates he has and the super delegates he has pledged?

Honest question - I am not sure of the count. Updated On: 3/4/08 at 11:43 PM

papa, I believe that most GOPs would prefer a race between McCain and Obama. And that you seem to maintain an objective response about the Dem race makes me have much respect for your political sensibilities after all these years.

And because I believe you are more moderate than anything, I do take relief that our next President could very well be the least of all evil for either party. And ain't that grand really?

The nomination? Nope. Even after all of today's delegates are awarded, they are both far away from the number.

SmartPenguin78, I totally know what you mean...

I have this sick feeling in my stomach. I can't stand the idea of George Bush being succeeded by John McCain. The Democratic party needs to get its act together and start cooperating...

neither of them can win without the supes. i mean sure, bammy could run the table by 80% and then...maybe. but they both need the supes.

oh and smarty, ain't it grand? ripping each other apart until june at least. god, it's so...beautiful.

This is what I really want to know, and what I wish I would hear Hillary say:
What is her plan to beat John McCain?
If she really is the stronger general election candidate (and I am not saying she isn't) what issues will she be campaigning against him on, and in what ways does she present a better alternative than Obama.
I don't want to hear it in terms of "I am stronger than Obama" though- I want to hear it as "This is how I will win."

ETA: About the super delegates, they both need them to get over the top, but Clinton, but all estimates will need them just to get EVEN with Obama, that is a big difference.

I don't dislike the idea of them though, they were always going to be a part of the process, and should vote their conscience, and I will support a switch to Clinton 100% if scandal or something envelopes Obama. But they do need to vote in favor of the best option, and all things being equal I really believe they will cost the party votes if popular vote is for Obama and they go against that.

Not today SP, but the eventual nomination. If Obama was clearly going to win no matter what, then I would say Hillary should gracefully exit the process. But, why should she gracefully resign when there is very little statistically difference between the two of them?

I find it a bit interesting that Obama's folks now say Ohio does not matter, because he lost there.

I just don't see the "mandate" that would require Clinton to step aside at this point, especially if she wins Texas (at least the Primary).

EDIT: And, if there had been more scrutiny of Obama by the media, I would be a bit more comfortable - but I think he has not been given quite the same level of scrutiny as Clinton. I have friends who would vote for Clinton, but if it is Obama vs. McCain, they are going with Mac. I dunno - I like Obama - but my concern is that he may be the most amazing President of my lifetime, or he may be the next Jimmy Carter - I am just not sure which. Updated On: 3/4/08 at 11:55 PM

Ohio matters as much as anywhere else.
(The states don't matter thing has not been said by the Obama camp, just supporters many reacting to the official x states don't matter items from Clinton.) ETN: I am wrong here, per papa below, Axlerod has said Ohio doesn't matter. I stand by the intention of my statement though.

Clinton doesn't have to step aside, I think she has every right to stay in. I also think (and I have every right to think this) that every day she stays in costs the Democrats in November.

That's the thing. Statistically, you have to have Ohio to win the Presidency. MAYBE Obama can defy that.

Thus, Clinton should continue.

isn't david axelrod part of bammy's campaign?

"on losing ohio, he said it doesn't matter if the campaign didn't win since a democrat will win ohio regardless -- due to the economic situation there."
or is he like the guy that "didn't" go to canada?

I actually think Clinton can win Ohio in the GE.
I don't think she can win the nomination though, so how is it going to help if she stays in and then loses?

In the end game though can she win the Kerry states? Can she pick up Ohio? Sure she can, but Obama CAN as well.
I want to hear her talking about why she will.

Obama talks about it, and I know Clinton supporters disagree with the reasons, but they are possible.

ETA:
My big issue is: I want to like both candidates and for a very long time I did. Then Clinton lost me, and ever since has pushed me farther and farther away. She can stay in and win me back, but it will take different tactics than used so far.

SP -

I think that no one knows how the GE will go.

I like Obama, but his inexperience in federal government is a concern for me. For him, who he surrounds himself with will be very important.

I think that tonite honestly evens the playing field. Either are formidable. But if she wins Tex and Ohio and Penn, she is the front runner.

i understand it meaning that she's not on life-support anymore, but how can she be the front-runner if she's not even ahead in the delegate count?
