hil's gonna get ohio (but it'll be ugly and lawyers will be involved). johnny mac's got the nod for the gop. texas is ugly for the dems. bammy won vt. and no one reallly cares about rhode island except seth mcfarland as it's ruled by a gang of brokaws.
On CNN they have votes for Texas(P) and Texas(C). Forgive my ignorance, but what the hell does that mean?
primary and caucus. the dems do both in texas. the primary counts for - i think - 65% of the delegates and the caucus the rest.
oh god is this gonna be fun!!!
obamanacs supporters locking out the clintonites, literally
Ooh okay. Thanks.
y'welcome anna. jake tapper is reporting that some texas districts haven't even started caucusing (they were scheduled to start at 8:15) due to heavy turnout.
where'd all these people come from?
CNN reporting that several Texas caucuses are woefully unprepared for the turnout. Could be a long, contentious night. Clinton may get the wins to gain some momentum, but Obama will almost certainly still have a delegate lead when all is said and done. Even if Clinton gets the majority of the primary vote, Obama could win the caucuses and enough key primary districts to win more delegates.
he's going to destroy her in the caucuses - even if his people are not cheating like chicago aldermen. i've read multiple reports of his ground game just overwhelming hers at the caucuses and basically just imposing their will. americablog has a report from someone who was at an austin caucus who says it was 75% bammy-ans.
well papa, it looks like your my candidate.
Texas is too tight to call.
I'm going out and getting plastered.
If I post weird things around 2 am, blame it on the booze.
Hey, leave the Chicago Aldermen bashing to US, papa.
have a good time, pj. you deserve it!
Is this really going to take all night?
Crazy.
Her Ohio lead is now 56-42, with no votes in yet from either Cleveland or Cincinnati.
plus the bamanators are wailing about the fact that there are up to 15% provisional ballots in cleveland. gon' be a long, long night.
PJ, pour me a drink please.
pace yourself.
thanks to a judge's order to keep polls open until 9pm, they won't be done counting until 4:30am.
all that for 5 votes. 5.
Apparently more people voted in the Texas primary than voted for John Kerry in 2004.
yep. and every single one of them will vote democrat in the general election. every. single. one.
CNN just called Ohio for Clinton.
That's just it though, papa... kinda depends on who gets the Democratic nomination, huh? Of course it's up in the air but the independents can go either way for various reasons. And the numbers were high long before McCain locked down the nomination.
Also I think people are forgetting about the younger set which has been coming out like never before to vote--and has probably been voting Democrat. Young voters probably feel less threatened by scary Muslims and code orange nowadays. I hope.
i know personally of 75 republicans in texas who voted bammy because they hate hillary that much. needless to say, they won't be voting democrat. but they're probably the only ones. anywhere.
of course you could just look at the exit polls in ohio, rhode island and texas where a full 30% of voters declared that they would be dissatisfied if obama was the nominee.
that's gotta hurt
Texas is a mess. Iowa does Caucasus great - other states, not so much. And, why would you have a Primary and a Caucus on the same day?
And, I cannot see how they can not seat the delegates from Florida and Michigan. Even have a "do-over" primary in the states.
Obama only has approximately 10% more delegates than Clinton, and for there to be an assumption that she should resign, seems a bit odd. Perhaps, if Edwards had allocated his delegates to Obama, it would make sense.
I just get this odd sense of entitlement from the Obama supporters that Hillary should just give up. I don't want someone who gives up when things look tough, I want a fighter. And, if they have problem with the campaign Hillary is running, their heads will explode with the muck that will come in the general election.
