what do you think is the movie that is referenced the most when you watch TV or movies? which one gets made fun of the most or has lines or scenarios quoted or stolen?
i think ive seen the most mockery of the wizard of oz
Star Wars
I'd say Oz too. Almost every sitcome I've seen makes at LEAST one reference to it at some point.
The Baum Bugle lists all the Oz references on TV. And the list is ALWAYS long.
First movie that came to mind was Wizard of Oz. Even Hoodwinked had a reference to it...

Tiff, according to imdb.com, even Star Wars references The Wizard of Oz!
Citizen Kane and Gone With the Wind were the first two that came to my mind.
It has to be the Wizard of Oz. Hell, even RENT has two.
For a southern girl, Gone with the Wind and Steel Magnolias.
Citizen Kane and The Graduate pop up automatically in my mind.
The Godfather
Star Wars
Casablanca
Holy Grail?
Good question. I wonder if the answer can be found anywhere, like in an almanac? Anyway, I think Oz might be the one. Although, "Frankly, Scarlett, I don't give a damn" is spoken pretty often.

Oz (the "rainbow" one, not the "don't-drop-the-soap one)
The Godfather
Gone with the Wind
Star Wars
Does A Christmas Carol count? If so, I'd also add that one.
Oz (the "rainbow" one, not the "don't-drop-the-soap one)
hahahah
or Oz (The Rainbow one, not the one where the entire cast is now on one of the Law & Order shows.)

For some odd reason The Graduate popped in my head. Oz is A LOT more logical though.
Other than Oz which I think is a given, definately The Godfather

How about CASABLANCA? How often do you hear references to "Here's lookin' at you, kid", "We'll always have Paris" or "This could be the start of a beautiful friendship" or "Play it, Sam" or "Of all the gin joints in all the world, why did she have to walk into mine?" et cetera, et cetera.
And of recent movies? JERRY McGUIRE. "Show me the money", "You had me at hello", and "You complete me" are constanly being parodied on sitcomes, etc.

what gets referenced from citizen kane?
ive heard field of dreams mentioned a few times ("if you build it, he will come)
the show Get Smart used to use scenarios from a lot of famous old movies. i remember an episode that took place in casablanca. and then another one that was similar to the treasure of the sierra madre. one made fun of goldfinger, one makes fun of Marlon Brando's film The Wild One, one mocks bonnie and clyde, the avengers, the maltese falcon, rear window, The Great Escape and Stalag 17. there are so many more where the titles are parodies (including a spy, spy birdie).

I agree w/ Aigoo... I know I quote Monty Python all the time. Another movie quoted often - Terminator. Hasta la vista baby.

i dont think anyone mentioned james bond.
you always hear "shaken, not stirred" or "bond, james bond" in some way. (hey, its in RENT)
Agree w Casablanca. Think about it" Woody Allen's Play IT Again" was a play & a movie. The film The Usual Suspects.(I love that quote- round up the usual suspects.)
I watched The Graduate recently and was amazed at how many references there've been to it in movies that came afterwards.
