OH hell...there's no getting around this one. It was off the cuff and it was stupid...own up to it and move on. Trying to put a pretty face on this comment is the worst thing he can do. STUPID, STUPID remark. OWN IT, apologize for it and remember it the next time you're tempted to be self-effacing and funny.

Kind of like how the republicans never acknowledged that Bush was a train wreck and instead cried out a chorus of "but, but, but, CLINTON!"

Of course she isn't. She's a fading joke. That was more pointed toward the crowd who's going to insist this is a news story for weeks and weeks and weeks on even if Obama does the right thing and owns up to his mistake.

This is why I hate political parties. I don't have any specific party affiliation, but I do feel that Obama's comment was not a wise thing to say at all. Still, there's no need to make a blanket statement about Republicans in general or Democrats in general.

Obama's been pretty good, actually, at owning up to his mistakes.

Neither Bush not Clinton did that at all, but Obama has done it a few times and will likely do it a few more.

But at least he's capable of admitting when he's wrong.

KK, give it a rest. The majority of this board is democratic, and the few republicans here aren't going to change their minds just because you so "wittily" offend an ex-president.

Stupid comment, and as most others have said, he'd do best just owning up to it. I wonder how many disabled people will actually be offended, and how many are pearl-clutchers who want something to jump on. Presidents are people too, and, as history has proven many times over, they also say dumb ****. Trivial, really, what with that failing economy and everything.
