pop corn alternatives

i want to have a movie night and have something salty and puffy like popcorn (no candy) to snack on but i'm allergic to corn. is there anything else that "poofs" up like popcorn?

rice cakes? Not the same shape as popcorn, but definately salty and puffy.

not exactly puffy but my fave alt to pcorn are pita or bagel chips or even cripsy wonton strips

Abba - you could get that puffed rice cereal - then season it and bake it with some butter and worcestershire sauce. Kind of like a chex mix.

actually the "edible" (bio-degratable) kinds of styrofome are made form cornstartch lol

Have you tried soy crisps? They're puffy and salty, and high in protein/low in fat. They come in a variety of yummy flavors, and don't contain any corn:

Why not check out the new Trader Joe's across from the West Farms Mall? They have lot's of food alternatives. Then there is the new Whole Foods in West Hartford. Wild Oats is way overpriced.

Hmm - that makes it a lot more difficult! Even Quaker rice cakes say that they may contain trace amounts of peanuts.

i love whole foods and wild oats, but i'm not a hge fan of the new trader joes... they have healthy foods but dont really cater to those with allergies, like thier plain rice milk has carob in it.
whole foods prepared foods are a bit spicy for my tastes though and i like the atmopheare of wild oats better :)

There are some puffed rice cereals that would be a good alternative. My ex was allergic to wheat and soy, and those cereals were a great alternative.

i love rice cereal, and i have a bag of it in the cabinate... my plans are to watch horror movies after everyone goes to bed nd snack on whatever i can lol

I'm with children and art;

Stacy's Pita chips, they're freaking good. Get some hummus or salsa and you have a yummy, healthy (albeit non puffy) snack.
