As much as i loved Starlight Express.
Sondheim has great musicals including into the woods, Sunday In The Park with George, Sweeney Todd, Company, Passion, etc.
While ALW has cats, Phantom, Evita, Joseph, Jesus Chist Superstar, and Sunset Blvd.
Both are good in different ways

Did I miss something or is today April Fools day?
I will make a bold statement - Lestat was the best musical ever edging out In My life

The title of this thread made me think of my favorite animated short film "Bambi Vs. Godzilla".
I would agree that in terms of skating Starlight has it over all those skatingless Sondheim shows.

No one'll kill you. Pretty much 80% of this board thinks Phantom is crap.
Now, I don't know what kind of people would ever like Starlight Express...

Ok,
Starlight Express isn’t even the better show with roller-skating, Funny girl is. And because Jule Styne Wrote the music for Funny Girl, And Gypsy, and Gypsy had lyrics by Sondheim, this therefore makes him far better. It might not make sense but in replying to the comment that started this thread where someone even thinks to compare the two in the same category, it is the most lucid thing that can be said.
(I apologies if this is stupid. But so is the first comment and yes we are meant to be accepting to peoples opinions, but to me that is just offensive. And yes it could be a joke but whatever)
(sorry for grammar ect.)

Posted: 12/3/06 at 5:24pmNo darling, your thinking of John Doyle's new staging of The Rink where characters from A Little Night Music come and turn the roller rink into a summer getaway while bowling on see-saws, playing their instruments, and singing.

Guys and gals this has to be a joke
I am a huge ALW fan and even I would never say something like that. Probably because I like "Passion" and some of Sondheim's works - and probably because of all of ALW's works - Starlight Express has to be his weakest.

I don't know what's funnier - that people are taking this seriously, or that people are on here defending the fact that it's a joke as if there was a POSSIBILITY of it being anything other than a post to spur responses.
I mean really, Starlight Express is freakin' sweet.
