oh i agree 100%...this is very dangerous and they aren't just doing "the skater's waltz"! its major stuff. a couple of them DO have a skating background they just didn't go anywhere with it. it will be fun though and i will watch anything that john zimmerman is on! =)
I can't believe the list of reputable skater's participating in this! The Washington Post had a write up about it.
zimmerMAN!
That Zimmerman is stunnning! Wow, Wednesdays has long been a good tv night for me. I hope I get home from work in time to see most of it.
They're all crazy. Someone's definitely gonna get hurt.
But, will I be watching? Hell yes!
It'll be airing on Mondays after its premiere tonight.
I'd run you over cturtle and say Johnny is mine, but since you have Matt as your avatar, I'll play nice. (love Matt)
There's an article in People on it.

The commercial showed various bruises and injuries that the participants would get.
I don't understand what's entertaining about watching people get hurt- same reason I always hated America's Funniest Home Videos. I just don't like it or understand why someone would. *shrug*
For me, it's not that I'm hoping to see someone get hurt, but these celebrities are going to be doing something incredibly difficult and dangerous, and that, in my opinion, they have no business doing. The unpredictablility of it should make for compelling television.

Why is Bruce Jenner dressed as a Navy captain? Skating with Tai Babalonea, it seemed that they were Madama Butterfly and Benjamin Franklin Pinkerton.
Geeze!
They're all so much better than I expected.
I agree, some of them look like they've had lots of training. Can't wait to see John Z. NEXT!
Who knew it only takes 4 weeks to do back crossovers, back spirals, and waltz jumps. I've got to say I'm pretty impressed.
Jillian just mentioned that she's been skating as a child.
I'm not watching that woman who is a combo of Dionne Warwick and a gila monster skate now.
Oh, and what was that female hostess wearing? An empire state building shirt? Gotta go watch Runway.
Dave Coulier, Mr. You Oughta Know, played hockey for a lot of years, so he should be able to handle the ice pretty well. I think it is a little unbalanced. I didn't watch the show, though.
Professional skaters are strong and well in control. No one was doing anything that would put anybody in harm's way. Many elements of the programs featured simple moves that were beautifully fluffed (as Mr. Nicks would say) and quite effectively showcased what the celebrity skater was able to do. You might notice with the professionals, the male pair skaters had an advantage to do lifts safely, but the female skaters would not put themselves and their partners in danger and kept feet on the ice -- often both feet at the same time in the case of the celebrity skater! John Zimmerman is an incredibly strong skater and was lucky to have a very capable and athletic partner.
As an ice dancer of many years, I've worked with many beginners and sustained very few bruises. Experienced skaters know how to safely work with beginners. I have to say I was very skeptical of this show at first, but ended up being quite impressed with what could be accomplished in one month.
