Watched bits and pieces. 4 weeks to learn a back crossover and a waltz jump is about right.(Given that they had pros teaching them!)
I was really impressed by Bruce Jenner. (Then again he did win thw gold for the Decathalon!)

I agree with "ihearttheater". It looked painful from the commercials. It is amazing, all the crap on TV........

i used to figure skate- i had to quit becuase i was getting hurt too often, and i realized my love for musical theatre. (:

this show is very very stupid-lol. skating is a VERY dangerous sport, and learning how to master it in a few weeks? yeesh.

and not to sound *itchy... but seriously, they could get SUCH better celebrities. i don't know who half the people are! and the ones i do know, i'm incredibly sick of, and these pointless reality shows are the only jobs they can get- which makes it kinda sad.

I like to think I'd be semi decent after a month of one-on-one tutoring by such great skaters. :) I watched Lost and totally forgot to tape it though, so I'll just pick it up on Monday night. From the recaps and the things on the website it looks like it was fun!

IMO, John Zimmerman and Jillian B. are the top contenders. He can lift her and do some jumps, and she was a former skater and seems to have stuff down really well.

Her spin was actually decent looking, as opposed others. Also in the video they showed she was going for some jumps. It looked like an axel. She fell everytime, but you never know!

Also, I hope Lloyd and Kristi do better! She was disappointed and he knows how to get the crowd excited, so I hope they can come up with something. In the previews, they show a skater, which I believe is Kristi, and gets hit on her face!

Todd Bridges actually showed a lot of personality on the ice and that surprised me because I expected Todd and Jenni to be the worst team out there, even though I love Jenni!

Also, I love Johns Nicks "Simon Cowell" presence and attitude!

American Idol on ice...I love it. Why would Dorothy Hamill make herself the Paula Abdul of the show?

I was impressed that Bruce Jenner managed to do two axels in a row...not an easy task for a non professional.

This competition gives a couple of the teams an unfair advantage. In the couples where the male is the professional skater, they are able to lift their partners and do some pretty inpressive moves that you would never be able to expect from the ex-con from Different strokes or the fat Bullwinkle impersonator from Full House. The feamle professional skaters will have towork twice as hard as the males to make up for the inadequicies of their partners.

Non complainer here! When Debra Gibson said she never owned skates until a month ago, I was impressed by her athleticism. But maybe she didn't own skates, but borrowed or rented them as a child, lol.

Orion 59, those were waltz jumps that Bruce Jenner was doing. He's nowhere close to being able to do an axel. Jillian was trying to do axels in practice clips, but wasn't landing any. She was the closest to landing one.

omg, this show is crazy. Being a skater for years, it's hard for me to watch people trying to skate and do this stuff. It's hard, so I guess I give them credit for that.

You guys were talking about hurting themselves and that reminded me of this one girl on my skating drill team. She had to wear padding in her pants because she would fall so hard on the ice. I don't know how she could skate well at all..

John Nicks was so hard this week. And what was with Mark Lund's comment that Jillian and John had to improve b/c other teams were catching up? Load of hooey. Fine if they have to improve, but they are still light years ahead of all the other teams. Maybe the producers realized that after the first week and asked the judges to bash them down a little.

Of course they're light years ahead of the other teams! He's a pairs skater and she was a skater when she was younger. I'm not sure how extensive her skating background is, but it sounds like it was significantly more intense than just strapping on a pair of skates a couple times a year and taking a spin around the pond. They totally have an unfair advantage over the other pairs. For example, how can Debbie and Kurt compete on the same level? She's never really skated, and he's a singles skater. He's not going to lift her or anything (she's bigger than he is!).

I don't know...I watched the first two episodes, but I've got class on Monday nights until quarter of 9 (we got out really early last night) so I guess that'll be it for me and Skating w/ Celebs. I'll be curious to see if anyone else is able to topple Jillian/Zimmerman though.

Yeah, Todd Bridges and Jenni Meno were eliminated. Todd fell at the end of their routine, so that pretty much sealed it. I felt kind of bad though. He seemed to have improved quite a bit, and they had a fun routine.

Harry Hamlin was on Martha Stewart yesterday (I was passing the TV, NOT watching it) with a t-shirt on that said Team Rinna. I wanted to reach into the TV and slap him silly.

Yes, so why is Mark Lund saying other teams are catching up, when they are obviously not, was my point. Producers intervention. *Sigh*, skating w/ celebs is corrupt like all skating is. re: skating with celebrities - MAYBE SPOILERS
