re: 08-09 Shows That You Think Are Going To Be Successful

'Shrek' has a good chance of appealing to families who want to see a show but might be in that awkward stage where 'The Little Mermaid' and 'Mary Poppins' are considered too babyish. I know my optimism for forthcoming shows kinda sets me apart from almost everyone here, but I'm very excited about 'Shrek'. With that creative team and that cast, it's already off to a better start than many shows. It may or may not manage to build on that start successfully, but we won't know yet, and families heading to Broadway may well not care any more than they care about 'The Little Mermaid' being pants.

I hope "Tale of two Cities" is successful. I've been listening to the demo CD for a couple years and really like it. I hope I can see it on trip Oct/Nov time frame.

WOMAN IN WHITE and CRY-BABY were the only flops in that theatre!

enough!

Those are not the only flops the marquis has had. Nick & Nora, and The Capeman to name some others...

I love how dead-on sure some are about the success of shows that are hardly more than press releases at this point.

It might be fun to take a look at similar threads predicting the 07-08 or 06-07 seasons to get some perspective.

I'm hoping "A Tale of Two Cities...the musical" will be a hit too! But the critics are just going to eat it all up..."Until Tomorow" & "One Day More" could commonly be mistaken as songs of the same tone.

And I'm also not sold on '9 to 5'!

Shrek will as said, either be great or be a huge miserable flop.

Just judging by the logo and seeing the cast, 9 to 5 just looks like fun. It probably won't be high art, but it seems entertaining, and Dolly Parton has such a winning personality.
