I'm embarrassed to run one of those posts, but hell be damned, we have 1 open slot for this weekend's show-going. (Already have tix to HADESTOWN, OKLAHOMA and NETWORK.) Make your call between:

CONSTITUTION, easy.

I have a couple friends that I would recommend Gary to first, but otherwise, this is Constitution in a cakewalk.

My gut says Constitution, but I'm seeing Gary tomorrow afternoon.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I saw The Prom and Ink this past weekend (along with Ain't Too Proud, The Lehman Trilogy, Kiss Me Kate and Tootsie). I thought that Ink was a great play if you want to learn a bit about a tabloid newspaper, and it has some music, too. The set is very impressive, although it doesn't change except for some additions now and then. Jonny Lee Miller was excellent.

The Prom was my favorite musical of the weekend. If you are interested in a touching comedy and a sweet musical, then see The Prom. I thought that Beth Leavel was fantastic, and other leads are great, too. The set is not particularly memorable, but the performances were.

I'm seeing Constitution next month, but from the stellar reviews, I hear it is a must-see, even without highly theatrical staging.

Constitution doesn’t have highly theatrical staging but you’ll definitely get a unique show and words to chew on

I haven’t seen any of the others yet though I do plan to see Ink

I haven't seen CONSTITUTION yet but if you want dramatic staging, phenomenal performances, and tons of dialogue to chew over, INK is absolutely that. It blew my mind with the inventive choreography (remember this is a play) and Bertie Carvel is on track for a Tony nom if not a win. But I've heard amazing things about CONSTITUTION, so I really do not think you can go wrong, my friend!

Bumping for shamelessly selfish reasons--

Hoping Dramamama who I hugely respect can put these in descending order now that she's caught all the shows -- and of course, everyone else should play as well. (Wondering where all the Promsters went.)

I have only seen The Prom from what you've mentioned. My take away was that it was a highly highly entertaining musical. Im like you, and enjoy big staging and words to chew on, but I cannot deny the heart of The Prom. The characters are so lovable its just near impossible to not leave happy! Plus side is it may be a it cheaper too. If you want something a little more fun to add on the shows you saw (Saw Network on the same trip as well) I guarantee you'll have a blast at the Prom. However, Im dying to see Constitution and Ink as well. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these! Enjoy your show!

I've seen all of these except Gary. I liked the first hour of Constitution, and loathed the second hour. I'd see The Prom if I were you.

Looks like you need a solid comedy in your mix for a well rounded theater trip. Go with Gary if you want a thinker. Go with The Prom if you want some fluff.

We took ^ Radderson's suggestion: got TKTS seats for GARY in 4th row center for the Saturday Matinee. Had a fantastic time and were super-glad to see those 3 brilliant actors do their stuff so close up. A great afternoon!

(Not that anyone should care, but my take on the 4 shows we caught Easter Weekend will go up in the separate threads for OKLAHOMA, GARY, NETWORK and HADESTOWN. Our unanimous order from greatest to worst:
