'13' Evan Double Casting Reason?

Does anyone know why the role of Evan in '13' is double casted? Why can't Graham Phillips do all eight performances a week? As it is, I believe the s/b Corey Snide is only going on once a week.

The role of Evan isn't any more strenuous than any other of the main kids.

I don't think "double casting" would be the right term for it -- to me, that implies equal (or near-equal) amounts of stage time, like the two different casts of the Grinch or the kids in Mary Poppins. "Alternate" would be more appropriate, as he only has one scheduled performance each week.

The only reason I can think is that Evan definitely has the most solo singing of the cast, which I'm sure is strenuous on a young voice, and not doing both two-show days each week probably eases that. But that's speculation. I have no idea what the actual reason is.

Also: CAST. "Casted" is not a word.

Corey does Saturday matinees and Sunday matinees.
I saw him during the final preview and I have heard Graham on the CR and I prefer Corey. His voice is a lot stronger and he is just wonderful, but that being said, I still like Graham.

Although: If Graham is out, would Corey go on or the U/S?

re: '13' Evan Double Casting Reason?

I remember hearing somewhere that Corey has only gone down to one performance a week (Sat evenings). And I would argue that Archie has equally as much reasoning.

As to the quality of the show, the only thing I can judge by is the cast recording which I purchased off iTunes. I think that the score is really fresh and unique. It's the JRB style that we all know and love, yet has this really fun and unanticipated twist on it. Can't judge the book of the show yet...

The Saturday evening thing may have only been for opening week, but I'm not sure. Can anyone confirm?

I agree about the score. It's a sort of less complicated JRB, which is always welcome in my eyes and ears.

Yes, It was so Graham could be seen during the press previews. But as of now, Corey is back to Sat matinees and Sunday matinees. I saw him during the final preview and he was wonderful.

I HIGHLY recommend 13. It's really entertaining and fun.

If it was labor laws, it would apply to all/most of the kids. And Graham isn't the youngest in the cast.
