13: The Musical is amazing. A Jewish boy is about to celebrate his Bar Mitzvah, when his parents divorce and he moves to a small town. Now he has the choice to have all the popular kids or just invite his real friends, the not popular kids. The fun up-beat music by Jason Robert Brown is truly how musical theater should be. I just celebrated my bar mitzvah. I have gone through what the main character is going through. Because the whole cast and band are ages 13-17, I felt like they were my friends on stage. The cast will sign autographs outside the theater after the show. I recommend for everyone to go see this musical. Anyone can relate to this story because we all were or will be 13.

Oh deary me.
Anyone can relate to Seussical because we've all met crazy cats. Anyone can relate to Hairspray because we all know how bad 60's clothes were. Anyone can relate to Wicked because we've all been green with envy.
Btw, I like your review. It was incredible.
But wait a minute, wasn't there already a musical about a young boy struggling through his Bar Mitzvah? Actually, yes. It was called 'Bar Mitzvah Boy', and was composed by Jule Styne.

The best part is that this sockpuppet joined way back in February, just biding their time, waiting for a musical that's doing lacklusterly to hire them to pimp their show.
Side note: I like 13, just not their sock puppetry.

Yeah, the elevated train by 13's window doesn't faze it any more...

Double Post...
This is hysterical. Sure there are people who actually like 13 (I happen to think it's a hot mess) but even it's biggest fans who have any sense of the history of musical theater and what constitutes a great or "amazing" musical wouldn't be this positive about it.
Shills are fun.
PS: Do shills ever work? Like have shills posting on BWW ever saved a show like 13 from closing? It's gonna be gone by Christmas, deal with it.

i understand that adults may not find this show as enjoyable, but as a 13 year old-this show is amazing. Jason Robert Brown wrote it directed toward a younger audience. Here is a younger perspective review:
Evan Goldman has the perfect life. He lives in the "heart of New York City" and is 13 years old. During the summer his parents get divorced and he is forced to move to Appleton, Indiana, a place where "UFOs come to refuel." He meets Patrice, his next door neighbor, and decides that his life is not going to be as bad as he thought. Evan's Bar Mitzvah is coming up in October and he needs to get in with the cool kids so they can come to his party. It's every teenager's dilemma, fitting in. Evan has to pick between the people that are cool and his true friends. He learns one of the most important life lessons: "What it Means to be a Friend"
