1st Broadway Show ... "Phantom" or "Spamalot"

My school's freshman chorus is taking a trip to NYC for a competition, and while we're there we're seeing a Broadway show; our choices are "Phantom of the Opera" or "Spamalot."

I'd love to be able to say that "Phantom" was my first Broadway show, but if I'm not mistaking the majority of the "Spamalot" cast is still OBC, not to mention it's hilarious.

If you had the choice, which show would you make your first Broadway show?

Well, actually, in a few weeks the leads will mostly be NON-OBC.

I persoanlly like Spamalot a lot more, but then again, I loathe Phantom as a show. But, for your 1st, Phantom is not a bad choice.

i have never seen Phantom nor do i ever. I have seen Spamalot and loved it, but to say "this was my first show" I would go with Phantom.

ps my first show was Crazy For You. and proud of it!

Phantom, although last night I had a dream that I saw Spamalot through a rocking chair theatre and it was awesome! So maybe I'll see it soon.

love Spamalot, but it is not indicative of a um....the usual Broadway show.

definately see POTO, you will love it.

It's kind of like opera........The Flying Dutchman would NOT be a good first opera, but Italian Girls in Algiers would be

I personally dislike both... but Spamalot is a great deal funnier.

??

perhaps that's because POTO is NOT a comedy.....

Phantom is the show that got me into theatre, so Phantom of the Opera.

Phantom all the way...
Back, he spurred like a madman, shrieking a curse to the sky. With the white road smoking behind him and his rapier brandished high! Blood-red were the spurs i' the golden noon; wine-red was his velvet coat, when they shot him down on the highway, down like a dog on the highway, and he lay in his blood on the highway, with the bunch of lace at his throat... Phantom is a wonderful show. Just choose which one you'd feel that you'd have a better time at. Phantom is definitely a show you want to experience on Broadway in New York and Spamalot would be a fun time for you, so I don't really see any bad choice here. :)

Phantom of the Opera is a legend on Broadway, so many people have seen it. It's sung all the way through for the most part. If you want to be a part of that, go see it.

Spamalot is the opposite. Funny, no plot line, fun numbers...I would see that. Do you want a drama or comedy?
