A bit early for this...or what?
I love the Tony Awards too, but wow! We've got an awful long time till this comes around...
I know! I Just thought I'd post is since it was up on the Playbill sight :)
Why are they breaking down the technical awards by play and musical?

I like that they are breaking down some of the awards. It gives more talented people the chance to win.
Some early predictions...
Best Actor in a Musical: Tom Hewitt, Dracula (even those who hate the show seem to love him) OR B.D. Wong, Pacific Overtures
Best Actress in a Musical: Christina Applegate, Sweet Charity (I absolutely adore her, and this role is perfect for her)
Best Actress in a Play: Neve Campbell, Syncopation (Not sure about that one... When is it opening?)
Best Featured Actor in a Play: Philip Bosco, 12 Angry Men
Best Featured Actress in a Play: Brenda Blethyn, 'night Mother
It is, of course, too early to seriously predict this. But, if any of these people really win, you heard it here first.

Syncopation is not happening, but the proposition of Neve Campbell winning Best Actress is completely hilarious. I'd put my money on Natasha Richardson in Streetcar Named Desire or Jessica Lange in The Glass Menagerie, with Phylicia Rashad (Gem of the Ocean), Mary-Louise Parker (Reckless), Laura Linney (Sight Unseen) and Edie Falco ('Night Mother) for possible nominations, though the spring could bring any number of surprises.

This is fun lol! Here are my predictions so far!
Best Musical: *Brooklyn*, Little Women, Spamalot, All Shook Up, Dracula
Best Revival of a Musical: Sweet Charity, Pacific Overtures, *La Cage aux Folles*, The Wiz, The Pajama Game
Best Actor in Musical: Tom Hewitt (Dracula), *Tim Curry(Spamalot)*, Daniel Davis (La Cage aux Folles), B.D. Wong (Pacific Overtures), Cleavant Derreks (Brooklyn)- sorry if I spelt his name wrong
Best Actress in Musical: Sutton Foster (Little Women), *Eden Espinosa (Brookyn)*, Romona Keller (Brooklyn), Christina Applegate (Sweet Charity), (BLANK)
Best Featured Actor in Musical: Don Stephenson (Dracula)
Best Featured Actress in Musical: Kelli O'Hara (Dracula)
*it is too early and so few shows came out, it is really hard...but FUN!!!!

I disagree completely, BroadwayChild. As for Best Musical, Brooklyn is far from it, but considering the competition this year, it might as well win.
Best revival should go to Pacific Overtures, no matter what. La Cage aux Follies doesn't even hold a candle to PO.
Best actor? Possibly B.D. Wong.
Best Actress? Ramona Keller, all the way. Not only for Brooklyn, but there should be a special something for Caroline. A lot better then screechy ol' Eden.
Let's count. The Tonys are.... 8 months away. I'm excited, too, but early much?

Best costumes for a musical: Tobin Ost, Brooklyn
That's the only close shot of a Tony that I foresee for Brooklyn at this point in time (it hasn't even opened), besides a possible Ramona nod.

There's no way Christina Applegate will beat out Sutton Foster, I don't even think she'd beat out Eden or Ramona. Then again, I've never heard her sing, but I'm still thinking it's an impossibilty based on pure talent (for Sutt) and hype, if not talent (for Eden).

Hahaha I am especially excited for the 2005 Tony's! I am a freshman in High School and our Drama department goes to the Tony's every year..and well this year will be my first trip! Its actually rediculous on HOW excited I am but thats just fine!
I can't even poredict winners yet, there are alot of equally amazing shows out now.
The Suttons and Edens may have to step aside for Vicky Clark.
Trivial Pursuit: What show holds the record for winning the MOST Tony Awards?
THE PRODUCERS, 12 Awards, 2001.
Best revival should go to Pacific Overtures, no matter what. La Cage aux Follies doesn't even hold a candle to PO.
You may think the material is better, but that doesn't automatically mean the revival will be better.
Who the hell is Vicky Clark?
Never heard of her. That means Sutton wins.

Yeah TheGaIsSilent!!
Sutt all the way. Audra McDonald lookout...3 more TONY's and you're DONE. (hahaha I just realized how insane that is, what was the time span on Audra's win? Less than 10 years, right?)
I wonder who's hosting this year. Does anyone know who might be up for it? Maybe Hugh again?

I adore Victoria Clark. And anyone not familiar with her can slowly back away from the keyboard.
Donna Murphy is hosting.

Speaking of Donna, she seems to be miraculously better. I know she didn't need her voice to attend Golda's Balcony on Sunday, but the girl has just been popping up everywhere since she's left WT.
IT'S A MIRACLE!!
If "Brooklyn" wins Best Musical, I will be absolutely shocked. The competition would have to royally stink !!!
Victoria Clark is the 2005 Tony Award winner for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for Light in the Piazza.
