"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

AC - With that many performances listed, shouldn't it be more like "best performances in every single show you saw in 2006"?

Well you're less likely to find an audience for your book on here than if you just publish it. And considering the fact that you don't go into detail about any of the performances you listed as great, you're giving people zero substance to work from when responding. It's so overwhelming, yet in the end it amounts to nothing. Consider a shorter list next time, with brief explanations of why you chose the given performances.

A book? Would you or anyone read a book that just had names. No. It's called a list. Besides, I gave my intentions rather clearly in the first post: I posted my list, and asked others to post theirs. I don't feel like getting into an argument with you, but I feel the need to clarify this.

Don't get worked up, Americanboy. He just thinks he's better and smarter than everyone else. You'll get used to it. It's kind of common around here.

Re Drowsy Chaperone, I agree completely with Beth and Danny, but I also want to use this opportunity to mention Troy Britton Johnson. I think his 'Robert Martin' can get lost on stage in the midst of the dynamic personalities played by the others. It's a shame because he really is fantastic in the role.

I also want to mention Jonathan Pryce's turn in "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels". When he came into the role I was very sceptical of his ability to play comedy. Then I saw him for the first time and nearly fell out of my seat laughing. It was brilliant work from this veteran performer.

I'm sorry, but I can't believe people are trying to put the performances of Tina Maddigan, Stephen Lynch, Ashley Brown, Lea Michele, etc. on the same list as those of Raúl Esparza, Cynthia Nixon, Daphne Rubin-Vega (in Bernarda Alba, anyway) and (from what I've heard of their greatness) Christine Ebersole and Cherry Jones. There's just a huge difference between "really good" and truly "great."
