2009 Best Musical Nominees#1

So, as of April 15, all four of the 2009 Tony nominees for Best Musical (Billy Elliot, Next to Normal, Shrek, Rock of Ages) will have ran on Broadway for more than a year. Not too bad for "recession time."
The only other times this has happened in recent memory were 2005 (Spamalot, Spelling Bee, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Light in the Piazza); 1992 (Crazy for You, 5 Guys Named Moe, Jelly's Last Jam, Falsettos); and 1991 (Will Rogers Follies, Miss Saigon, Once on this Island, Secret Garden). Of course, all of the 1995 nominees also ran for more than a year, but there were only 2 that year (Sunset Boulevard & Smokey Joe's).
Kinda cool.

^It did but it still played for more than a year!

It's really great though that Rock of Ages and next to normal have continued to have very strong runs!

^ Yes, Shrek closed in January, but it started in November 2008 making it run for over a year.

Welcome to Broadwayworld.com! here is your first Bitch slap!

relax wdw. Its a positive time for broadway shows. People are actually coming to shows and keeping them open. Start reading the box office receipts and note for yourself things have picked up again and 8 shows don't have to close on one day like they did back on Jan. 8th.

wasn't trying to be sarcastic at all. Thought it would be a show of support for all of the Nominees and current running shows.
