well, the critics pretty much unanimously (even the ones who panned everything about the show, for the most part) LOVED Laura Benanti, and a great many of them didn't love Sherie and didn't think she did "carry the show", so that makes sense to me.
Frank Wildhorn is somewhere really mad right now, you just know it. :P
I just find it funny that people are angered by some being left of the list, 98% of those names are fillers, with about four or five actors/actresses who actually stand a chance of winning.

There can be overlap between the Outer Critics winners and the Tonys. For instance, take these winners from last season:
* Best B'way Play: 'Red'
* Best B'way Musical: 'Memphis'
* Best Play Revival: 'Fences'
* Best Musical Revival: 'La Cage'
* Best Actor in a Play: Denzel Washington
* Best Actress in a Play: Viola Davis
* Best Actor in a Musical: Douglas Hodge
* Best Actress in a Musical: Catherine Zeta-Jones/Montego Glover
* Best Featured Actor in a Musical: Levi Kreis
* Best Featured Actress in a Musical: Katie Finneran
* Best Original Score: 'Memphis'
They all won the Outer Critics award, and went on to win the Tony in the same category. And there were others. (Zeta-Jones & Glover would also tie at the Drama Desk, but not at the Tonys, where CZJ won.)
And speaking of credibility, Adamgreer, have you seen the membership list of the Outer Critics? Corine Cohen isn't on it.
Corine is a Drama Desk voter, not an Outer Critics voter.
