maybe it'll preview at TUTS? I'd like to see it preview in CT, like it did for the other productions.

I hadn't quite paid attention to the Boston venues, and I, too, am upset to see the Colonial not being used. The Colonial is not only a gem, but it is also an amazing space in which to see shows. One of those rare touring houses that has an intimacy (it's the size of a standard Broadway house). Truly disappointed.
TUTs sometimes produces their own shows. There are always a few shows that are not touring. They did Miss Saigon last year. I don't believe it is a Broadway preview though.
Is the GUYS AND DOLLS tour based on the most recent revival?
Has anyone seen if Spring Awakening is booked after May 2011?
Here are the 2011-12 Broadway and Cabaret Seasons for OCPAC in Costa Mesa. I refuse to call it by that new name they have.
2011-2012 Broadway Series:
Shrek: the Musical--Oct. 4-16, 2011 (Pantages this summer)
Blue Man Group--Nov. 8-20, 2011
White Christmas--Dec. 1, 2011-Jan. 1, 2012
Million Dollar Quartet--April 24-May 6, 2012 (Pantages next season too)
Les Miserables--June 12-24, 2012 (Ahmanson this summer)
La Cage Aux Folles--July 24 - Aug. 5, 2012 (I predict this will be at the Ahmanson next season too.)
Curtain Call:
Come Fly Away--Jan. 31, 2011-Feb. 5, 2012 (Pantages next season)
Traces--Feb. 28-March 4, 2012 (Was just at the Ricardo Montalban in Hollywood)
American Idiot--May 29-June 3, 2012 (Ahmanson next season)
Subscriber Bonus Shows: (WON'T THESE TWO SHOW EVER GO AWAY!)
Riverdance--Oct. 28-30, 2011
Cats--January 17-22, 2012
2011-2012 Cabaret Series
Audra MacDonald --October 15, 2011 for one night only in the Concert Hall
Loved her for their first season of cabaret; excited to be able to see her again!)
Stephen Sondheim and Friends --w/Michael Kerkel and guest artists to sing his songs. One night only on October 29, 2011 in the Concert Hall again.
This is another of his interview series with composers who have their songs sung by name singers. I've seen him three times before with Jerry Herman, Stephen Schwartz and David Zippel, a lyricist with Cy Coleman, all great shows. Can't wait to see who will be singing for Sondheim.
Chita Rivera in the Samueli Theatre --Nov. 10-13, 2011
Paulo Szot in the Samueli Theatre --Dec. 15-18, 2011
In the 2009-2010 season he was scheduled but canceled; hopefully he won't do the same next season.
Steve Tyrell --January 5-8, 2012
Andrea Martin w/Seth Rudetsky --February 16-19, 2012
What a kick her working with Seth; this should be good!
The only thing worse than having "Cats" listed as a special in a season is having "Annie". These two shows just refuse to go away.
these tours need to go away and take a breather.

Why? It sells very well, still, and introduces lots of younger folk to the theatre, making many new fans every time it revisits a city.
I worked a brief stint on CATS for a week about a year ago. Not only did I have a marvelous experience, but I saw first hand how thrilled and excited all the kids were (and, yes, the adults were having a damned good time, too). I think its a good thing that the tour goes on.

"can't we all just get along?" :-P
There are many shows that I dislike.. many shows I have no desire to see, but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't be running and I applaud them for successful runs and getting butts in seats.

I'm way more stoked for OCPAC's cabaret season than any of the Broadway shows! So many exciting concerts!

I have nothing against these shows besides the fact they constantly make return engagements to my city. Even if they are season specials, it is frustrating because there are other shows they can bring back as season specials besides the same show for the up tenth time.

South Pacific Dec. 6-11, 2011
Les Miserables Jan 17-22, 2012

Then, bwayfreak, you're issue isn't with the show. It's with your local presenter/theatre. Shows don't just decide where to go... presenters book them.
I never said I had a problem with either show. I am just tired of them constantly returning. I am well aware of the fact that presenters book the shows, not vice versa. I have nothing against either show though.

Oy vey? That sounds like a decent season.
It does. People really take their season's for granted. It could always be worse.

portland ,maine does two or three tours of broadway shows not like all of the rest of the usa.
It's interesting that Blue Man Group is doing a theatre tour and coming to cities as part of the Broadway season. I have nothing against the show and I'm thrilled to see it, just doesn't seem like a typical show in a Broadway season.
