I have to say I too am disappointed about Seattle's upcoming season...nothing worth going to see really. I'm hoping that the 5th Avenue comes out with it's lineup soon and that either Kinky Boots or Newsies is coming. With Seattle's season and Vancouver BC's lineup of Wicked (for the millionth time), BOM, and Flashdance it's going to be a disappointing next season of theatre for me.
Seattle is getting Kinky Boots for sure. Playing at the 5th Ave. The 5th Ave is also slated to get Matilda. The rest of their season is going to be announced this coming Sunday.
^ That's what everyone has said. I'm not that familiar with the original so it will be interesting to see what they do with it. I actually think San Antonio has a pretty damn good season IMO. I hope Boston has some of the same but also includes Motown and Kinky Boots or Pippin.
Looks like we're getting Dirty Dancing, Newsies, Motown, Kinky Boots, Cinderella, Pippin, The Phantom of the Opera, and Annie. Pretty good season to me!
Ghost the Musical (Aug. 12-17) Kinky Boots (Sept. 4-14) Wicked (oct. 8-Nov. 9) Pippin (Nov. 20-26) Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Jan. 20-25) Nice Work If You Can Get It (Feb. 24-March 1) Newsies (March 17-22) Cinderella (April 28-May 3) Annie (May 26-31)
Nice Work is scheduled for the first two weeks of September as part of Dallas Summer Musicals, followed by another week in Fort Worth as part of Broadway at the Bass.
Another tour under its own banner was supposed to go out this next season, but it looks like it fell through. Several theatre league venues were going to get it.
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
