This is happiest I've ever been after an award show. Everything I wanted to win won, except for Featured Actress in a Musical. Kristin can chill with her Tony and Emmy tonight.

The pacing was rushed in order to finish by 11. It was like everyone on stage had a rifle pointed at them if they didn't finish on time. The biggest example was the Josh Groban number..way too fast, disrespectful to the deceased they were supposed to be honoring.

You could not read half the names In Memoriam as some of the cameras seemed to be set up on 49 th street. They were a tad far away

The memoriam was terribly rushed and filmed I agree and FINDING NEVERLAND's "performance" was horribly boring, but other than that, I'm actually pleased with the overall show tonight. It was definitely better than last year, that's for sure.

I tend to force my friends to watch award shows with me and despite knowing the least about theatre compared to TV and movies, they all thought this Tonys was by far the best award show they've seen. I had to agree. No show is perfect, but I am very pleased with the way this was produced overall.

I don't really have any complaints. I thought this year's ceremony went really well! I liked Kristin and Alan as hosts, they were great in my opinion. And is it just me, or is this like the first time that they ended on time in recent years? I loved Ruthie's performance in The King and I, but I was kind of hoping that Sydney Lucas would win - she's pretty amazing (but I was pretty torn). All in all, it is a great year!

I thought the show, outside of Josh Groban starting way too low on You'll never walk alone, and the Finding Neverland number, [that was their best number?] was pretty darn good. I do have one question though, where was Jessie Mueller? Isn't it customary that last years winners present at this years show? Maybe CBS only wanted big names? Just curious.

Why do they feel the need to position the host(s) of awards shows as a comedy act? Not just the Tonys but others as well. They could have made room for Tune's acceptance speech and those of some of the creative artists if they'd cut back on the Kristin/Alan shtick, most of which didn't land anyway. Does Moonves really think it's supposed to be a comedy special?

pippin423, Jessie Mueller and James Monroe Iglehart were there presenting the Creative Arts Tonys throughout the night. So really, they presented more than anybody, just didn't get any air time from CBS.

My complaint is that Thunderstorms in our area interrupted viewing as the CBS station broke in with "severe weather" announcements as if we couldn't see the lightning/thunder and hear the rain. And then just as the In Memoriam segment finished, a tornado warning pre-empted the rest of the show!

Why did they announce Best Play before Best Revival? Reminds me of how the Grammys announce Record of the Year early in the telecast.

Why did they decide to announce best actress of a play as the first award?

It is their job to keep the audience entertained. Hosts have always been set up to be funny, which is why comedians are usually chosen to do the job on a lot of awards shows. Look at the Oscars for example,Jack Benny hosted twice, Bob Hope did it 19 times, Johnny Carson clocked in at 5 times. They are not simply hosting for TV, but for the audience in the house as well. It is the hosts job to keep a fun atmosphere, entertain the audience during commercial breaks, and improvise if something goes wrong. It is always a comedy act because of tradition, because they need to entertain.

Right, otherwise the show really would be unbearable. Sorry you didn't like the comedy this time around, but I think a lot of people would prefer the attempt than a tone of over-the-top seriousness or have the show be a plain, personality-less 3 hour bore.

I don't think the years that Angela Lansbury hosted would qualify as "a plain, personality-less 3 hour bore." Nor was it her stand-up act.

For the most part I'm very happy with the chosen winners tonight. However, my biggest complaint is absolutely the fact that Annaleigh Ashford won. I know I've said it before, but I detested her performance and I was really rooting for Lydia Leonard or Patricia Clarkson. Also, I thought the hosting bits were a chore to sit through.
Other than that, it was only minor disappointments:
--As much as I LOVED Ruthie Ann Miles' performance, and totally think she deserved the award, I was definitely hoping and expecting the award to go to Lucas or Kuhn.
--I think Elephant Man deserved Best Revival more, but I also liked Skylight.
--I'm sad that Hand to God didn't get anything, even though I understand why it didn't
--I would have liked Nivola to take the prize, but I'm not unhappy with McCabe's win

I loved Ashford and understand why people thought it was award-worthy, but I didn't think she was better than the rest of the cast. I thought everyone in the cast was just as good and some may have even been better than her.

To be honest, everything worked out so much the way I wanted that I don't have a lot to complain about!
Fun Home swept almost everything that I wanted it to sweep. My one complaint there is that I was really rooting for Sydney Lucas, but she's young, so she'll have many chances to win in the future!
And then of course, after watching that Finding Neverland performance, I really do think that it should have been nominated for at least something.

The hosts were awful.
The number from Something Rotten. That stops the show? The show probably isn't going very fast.
The number from Finding Neverland. Total crap!
The number from It Shoulda Been You.
Josh Groban The man can't sing.
Larry David The man isn't funny. Jason Alexander could have shut him up by say, "Larry, I won a Tony."
The first woman producer of Fun Home who dissed the other shows nominated.

No complaints. It was a great show and a wonderful cap to an extraordinary season.
I was hoping for some Cheno and Boyer love, but a hearty congrats to all the winners!
