Ahhhhhhhhh, I get it now. Thanks for the clarification
For sure! There are lots of similar-sounding terms during awards season, it's always good to clear up any mix-ups
I really really want Ben Platt to win Distinguished Performance. His performance in Dear Evan Hansen is one of the best I have ever seen on Broadway. However, given the history of that award, I'm thinking he may be a bit too young for them to award it to him. Especially given the more experienced star power he's sharing the season with (Kevin Kline, Laurie Metcalf, Jefferson Mays). I would love to be wrong, however, so we'll see!
Not at all to diminish the accomplishments and talents of the three actors I named, either. Just to be clear.
I enjoy Jefferson Mays in everything he's in but I don't think his role in Oslo is an award-worthy one.
Platt is a pretty decent bet, but I wouldn't be too surprised to see it go to someone like Metcalf or Linney.
re: those wondering about Glenn Close, it's possible she could get a citation from them (I forget what it's actually called if it's not that), which is what they do to recognize performances from people who have already won that they feel are worthy of a nomination that year.
That sounds very likely- I'd expect something similar for other past winners like LuPone and Ebersole. You can't win, but you did good work so you still get recognized.

I hope it goes to Gideon Glick. He truly deserves the awards, even if people didn't come to see the show.
I think those thinking Ben Platt will win are a little off-base. Is he great in the show? Yes. But this award usually goes to someone who is excellent AND who is a fairly big name. I was SURE this was Bette's award to win this year, but since they're giving her the special award, I doubt she'd get this one too. Otherwise, my guess is this will belong to either Kevin Kline or the combo of Cynthia Nixon/Laura Linney.
Aww, cute hosts!

Bumping since nominations come out tomorrow morning!

For the Drama League Awards it seems like the nominations themselves aren't very exciting. purely because they only have the 5 categories and so many are nominated in each category. With the other major awards its fun to predict nominations and who might be left out or sneak in, but here there's not a lot of build up, it doesn't get fun until after nominations are out.
^ For sure. I'm always interested in seeing who gets a Distinguished Performance nod, though!
Nominations coming in half an hour!
So...everything and everyone got nominated?
Some omissions I noticed along the way:
No Baldwin or Creel for HELLO DOLLY. They only nominated David Hyde Pierce.
No Jon Jon Briones. Only Eva Noblezada.
No Stephanie J. Block. Only Borle for FALSETTOS & CHARLIE.
No Phillipa Soo. No Christy Altomare.
Very disappointed Soo and Briones didn't get noms.

I was hoping for a nomination for Jenn Colella and Stephanie J. Block as well. Such a shame about Briones as well.
I'm most upset about Block missing. I hope this doesn't become a thing past this...if I had it my way she'd win the Tony this year.
I'm surprised The Band's Visit did not get a nomination
Annoyed about SJB...thrilled for RBJ!
Ebersole and LuPone, both previous winners (for Grey Gardens and Gypsy, as I recall) would be ineligible this go round.
Has Bette won this award before? Maybe that's why she isn't on the list.

Predicting winners though, I'm surprised Sutton Foster hasn't won one yet, and I could see her winning.
